Mr. Hoang Nam Tien (born in 1969), is a former student of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted in Mathematics, graduated from Information Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology. He joined FPT Corporation in 1993, holding many leadership positions at the corporation such as General Director of FPT Hoa Lac High-Tech Park Development Company Limited (2007 - 2012), General Director of FPT Distribution Company Limited (2003 - 2008).

In 2012, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien held the position of Chairman of FPT Software. In 2020, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien was elected Chairman of FPT Telecom. During his tenure as Chairman of FPT Telecom, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien made many improvements and drastic policies to help FPT Telecom stand firm through the crisis and maintain its position.

In early 2023, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien left FPT Telecom to become Vice Chairman of the Board of FPT University. To many young people, he is affectionately known as "Giao Tien" - a teacher who does not stand on the podium, but always accompanies and inspires students through profound thinking and real life experiences, along with many thoughtful statements.

In a speech in early 2024, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien once shared: “I have noticed that people who study well do not necessarily work well, because to study well requires a very high IQ, which only focuses on one area of the brain. But to work well, it is necessary to combine many, many areas of the brain.”

“Degrees are not important, but each degree proves that you have passed an exam. Degrees are not everything, but those degrees are the stars on your shirt. The more stars the better, but when we go to work, we need other abilities,” Mr. Tien once said.

The advice was given by Mr. Hoang Nam Tien at a conference on chip design human resources held last year. According to this expert, young people should learn about chip design and semiconductors to really shine and support themselves and their families.
