Brush strokes paint the world of children

In raising children, in addition to sending children to preschool classes, parents with children of preschool age are also very interested in learning gifted subjects. As society develops, more and more gifted subjects are opened, so parents have many choices, such as sending their children to dance classes, piano lessons, guitar lessons, drum lessons, chess lessons, martial arts lessons, swimming lessons, etc. However, among the countless choices, learning to draw will bring extremely meaningful benefits to the development of children at the stage of learning about the world around them.

In Hue , sending children to drawing classes from a young age is no longer strange. It can be seen that the number of drawing classes for children is increasing, not only in large centers but also in painting for children from 3 years old and up, which tends to be in the form of groups, accompanied by a lot of young students participating.

Ms. Tran Thuy Tien (born 1989), Director of Gia Han Fine Arts Center, said that although they enroll students from 3 years old and up, the number of adult students is very small, and the majority are children from 3 to 5 years old. “Every parent wants to bring the best to their children. That is why they send their children to drawing classes very early because of the benefits that drawing brings to children,” Ms. Tien shared.

For Ms. Thuy Tien, opening a drawing center was not her intention from the beginning. As an art teacher at Ly Thuong Kiet Primary School, when her first daughter turned 3 years old, she started teaching drawing to her child. Wanting her child to develop in an environment with peers and the same passion, she posted online about opening a drawing class for 3-year-olds. Unexpectedly, it met the needs of other parents. From a class with a few students, she gradually expanded and developed into the current Gia Han Fine Arts Center.

From the perspective of a teacher, Ms. Tien believes that children's brains develop fastest until the age of 8, then they start to slow down, so it is very important to expose children to painting early, at this age they absorb quickly and very well. Painting is one of the simple activities but can easily stimulate imagination, creative thinking, and enhance memory for young children. "The aesthetics that painting brings are also very important in cultural life, and have lifelong value. This is one of the things that when they grow up, even if they do not follow the path of painting, they still have to use a lot in life. In addition, painting is also a very good way to reduce stress," Ms. Tien shared.

With the main age group ranging from 3 to 10 years old, Ms. Tien's students have many different circumstances. Regardless of the circumstances, parents always want to invest in the best for their children. "Fortunately, we have not encountered any cases of children being too naughty. For children who are new to the class and are still afraid or not used to sitting in one place, we only need to gently comfort and encourage them, and after the second session, they will sit at the table and concentrate on drawing," Ms. Thuy Tien said. Sometimes, there are also children with autism who are brought to learn to draw. In addition to the initial difficulties, with the love of the teachers, the children gradually catch up with their friends and try to concentrate on their studies. Many children become very passionate. Some children also discover their talent for drawing, which helps their condition gradually improve.

Currently, not only in Hue but also in Vietnam, drawing competitions for preschool and primary school children are increasing. At the competitions held in Hue, many contestants are Ms. Tien's students. This is one of Thuy Tien's teaching methods when she often lets her students participate in painting competitions. At the national drawing competition "I draw a happy school" held last May, Hue had 6 paintings participating in the final round held in Hanoi , all of which were her students, including 1 excellent painting that won the Gold prize.
