Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Thuy - Commercial Counselor, Vietnam Trade Office in Sweden, concurrently in charge of the Northern European market, easily makes others feel sympathetic at first sight thanks to her warmth, trustworthiness and the standard elegance of someone who has worked for many years in diplomacy and Trade Office. In her conversation with us, the phrase "Vietnamese goods" is mentioned a lot.
She shared that Northern Europe is a small country with an open, modern economy , with imports and exports often accounting for 50-60% of GDP. Despite the small population, the import turnover of Northern European countries is quite impressive. This is an opportunity for Vietnam - a country strong in manufacturing export goods. In addition, the EVFTA Agreement, which took effect from August 1, 2020, brings many opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to boost exports to the EU region in general and Northern Europe in particular.
However, boosting exports to the Northern European market will be much more difficult compared to countries in the EU with large populations and located in the center of Europe. The reason is that Northern Europe is very far away, the cost of bringing goods here is very high. Vietnamese enterprises often choose to bring goods to the Northern European market through large intermediary importers in Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Poland.
For trade promotion, the old approach is not very effective and needs to be reoriented with a new approach. Therefore, the Trade Office has taken advantage of all occasions such as holidays, Tet, Vietnam National Day... to invite guests to the Trade Office, promote the image, brand, Vietnamese goods with the smallest things such as food, drinks... Then there are the fairs with larger scale and full of Vietnamese brands such as Trung Nguyen coffee, Hao Hao instant noodles, Vifon pho, Chinsu chili sauce, Vinamit... have helped bring Vietnamese products and goods to the people of the host country in the most gentle and natural way.
