Efforts to bring Son Giang - Son Linh bridge project to the finish line soon

(Baoquangngai.vn)- The Son Giang – Son Linh bridge project across the Tra Khuc River (section through Son Ha district) is being accelerated to reach the finish line soon. The bridge is the dream of thousands of households on both banks.

Looking at the Son Giang - Son Linh bridge being gradually completed, Mr. Dinh Van Den, in Son Linh commune (Son Ha), could not hide his joy and excitement, because when the bridge is completed and put into use to replace the old, degraded spillway bridge, he and about 12,000 people in the two communes of Son Linh and Son Cao (Son Ha) will no longer have to worry about traffic being cut off during the rainy season.

“The spillway is the main route, but during the rainy season, it is often flooded for several days and impassable. To go through Son Giang commune or to National Highway 24B, we have to take a long detour. Now that the new bridge is almost completed, we are very excited. Traveling during the rainy season this year will be convenient and safe. Our children's education will no longer be interrupted,” Mr. Den shared.

Son Giang - Son Linh Bridge is more than 90% completed.

After talking to Mr. Den, I was struggling to find a place to stand and take a few more photos of the bridge when suddenly I heard the sound of a motorbike horn behind me. I turned around and saw a woman in her 30s stopping her motorbike and taking pictures of the new bridge with her phone... After asking her, I found out that it was teacher Trang.

Although Trang lives in Son Ha commune (Son Ha), she works in Son Cao commune, so she travels on this road at least twice a day. Therefore, this new bridge is very meaningful to her. "I travel through this area every day, so I really hope the bridge will be completed and put into use soon so that people can travel safely during the rainy season and goods can circulate conveniently," said Trang.

The bridge, once completed and put into use, will help people travel more conveniently, especially during the rainy season.

The Son Giang - Son Linh bridge repair project was approved by the People's Committee of Son Ha district in February 2022, with a total investment of 100 billion VND, from the central budget reserve to support Quang Ngai province to overcome the consequences of natural disasters. The project is invested by the Son Ha district Project Management Board for Investment, Construction and Land Fund Development and officially started construction on May 14, 2022.

The contractor is grading crushed stone for the bridge approach road.

The project includes the bridge and the access roads at both ends of the bridge. In particular, the prestressed reinforced concrete girder bridge consists of 7 spans, the span structure is made of reinforced concrete Super T girders. The access roads at both ends of the bridge are paved with asphalt concrete, 7.5 - 9m wide, with 0.5m reinforced curbs on both sides, a horizontal drainage system, connecting residential roads, traffic intersections, etc.

According to the original plan, Son Giang - Son Linh bridge was to be completed and 100% of capital disbursed in 2022. However, due to various reasons, the completion time was extended to the end of 2023.

The investor regularly urges the contractor to complete the construction work soon.

Director of the Project Management Board for Investment, Construction and Land Fund Development of Son Ha District Nguyen Xuan Hoang said that the construction progress of the Son Giang - Son Linh bridge project has reached more than 90%. The main items have been basically completed. Currently, the contractors are constructing asphalt concrete on the main road and branch line No. 2; grading crushed stone, concrete on the road surface, completing the traffic safety system, etc.

“We regularly check and urge contractors to take advantage of favorable weather to speed up construction progress. We are making every effort to complete the project in time to serve people's travel during the 2023 storm season,” said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoang.
