History of 414 years of formation of Phu Yen province in the past (1611-2025) - now in Dak Lak province, Phu Nghia Marquis Luong Van Chanh followed the order of Lord Nguyen Hoang to leave Thuan Quang area in 1558, expanding the country's territory to the South. This talented general had the merit of reclaiming and opening up land, establishing Phu Yen since 1611, and was honored by later generations as the Thanh Hoang of Phu Yen.

The tomb and temple of Luong Van Chanh in Long Phung village, Hoa Tri commune, Phu Hoa district (Phu Yen) - now Phu Hoa 2 commune ( Dak Lak ) was recognized as a national historical relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information in September 1996. At the foot of Giong Trac mountain (in Phu Luong village, An Phu commune, Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen - now Binh Kien ward, Dak Lak) there is also a "Temple of the Head God" related to the famous person Luong Van Chanh.

"The Temple of the Head God" needs to be inspected and ranked as a provincial relic soon to invest in preserving and promoting its cultural and historical values.

The legend of "The Temple of the Head" in "Luong Van Chanh - life and career" - Encyclopedia Publishing House 2011 recorded that in the year of Mau Dan (1578), Luong Van Chanh ordered his generals to bring more than 100 warships to the mouth of the Da Dien River, marched into Thanh Ho to chase away the fleeing Cham army, then helped people repair their houses and cultivate crops.

Once, General Luong Van Chanh went into the forest to call on the remaining soldiers to surrender. On the way back, he was ambushed at dusk. The battle lasted for several hours, when suddenly the White Horse neighed loudly, jumped out of the encirclement while its leader was lying wounded on its back. When it reached the foot of Giong Trac mountain, its leader fell down, his head separated from his neck, and White Horse's tears flowed down. It neighed loudly again and then fell down beside its leader.

Also at this place, the "Temple of the Head God" was built in 1823 to worship the Head God Luong Van Chanh, to show gratitude for the merits of the general. All kings and mandarins passing by the temple had to dismount, take off their hats, and bow their heads to show respect. Previously, on September 24, 1822, King Minh Mang the 3rd had conferred the title of Supreme God on Luong Van Chanh.

For decades, the ancient temple has been deserted, moss covered the screen with the Dragon Horse mascot embossed on the surface, peeling off, the Chinese characters "Than dau mieu" and the parallel sentences on both sides are lost, the temple was destroyed in the war, in the early 90s of the last century, local people donated to rebuild it, but then it was destroyed by broken tree branches, so people continued to repair it themselves.

In mid-September 2011, a pillar with a lotus bud on the left corner and two front gate pillars of the "Temple of the Head" were broken by bad guys, two limestone unicorns embossed on the top of the pillar were stolen, and the locals hired workers to re-carve the two unicorns from granite. Inside the temple grounds, Mr. Luu Van Giao's family next door planted brocade bushes, watered them, cleaned them, and burned incense. Up to now, the "Temple of the Head" has never received any investment in preservation, repair, management, or protection.

According to Mr. Nguyen Le Vu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province, nearly two years ago, "Than Dau Temple" was included in the list of relics inventory according to Decision No. 1521/QD-UBND dated November 6, 2023 of the People's Committee of Phu Yen province, but has not been ranked as a provincial relic. According to the decentralization, the district level where the relic is located is responsible for managing, protecting and promoting cultural and historical values. In the coming time, the local authorities where the relic is located will propose to prepare a scientific dossier to propose ranking "Than Dau Temple" as a provincial relic.

Traces of people arbitrarily leveling and impacting an item at the An Tri Tra Ke Camp relic site, taken by the inspection team of the People's Committee of Son Hoi commune, Son Hoa district (Phu Yen) previously.

While the "Temple of the Head God" related to the famous person Luong Van Chanh reclaimed the land of Phu Yen for 414 years, the people took care of the worship and repaired it in a patchwork manner, in Tan Hoi village, Son Hoi commune, Son Hoa district (Phu Yen) in the past - now Tay Son commune (Dak Lak), there is a relic that is at risk of becoming... ruins. That is An Tri Tra Ke Camp (ATTK) which was ranked as a provincial historical relic by the People's Committee of Phu Yen province since May 2011.

According to the relic history of Phu Yen Provincial Museum, ATTK Camp was built by the French in 1940 to imprison and force patriots to participate in revolutionary activities. Although it only existed for 5 years, at one time ATTK Camp housed more than 100 people, including many members of the Indochinese Communist Party and staunch revolutionaries such as comrades Ha Huy Giap, Ho Tung Mau, Nguyen Hung, Nguyen Duy Hai, Phan Sung, Huynh Lam, Tran Chi Hien, Tran Dinh Tri, Luu Quy Ky, etc.

ATTK Camp is a testament to the French colonial invasion war, and at the same time a place that marks the spirit of national liberation struggle and the indomitable spirit of revolutionary soldiers in the past. It is necessary to restore and promote its historical and cultural values to become a place to educate revolutionary traditions for generations.

According to the minutes established by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on December 1, 2010, the ATTK Camp relic has a protection area of 13,959m2 in area 1 and 21,241m2 in area 2. However, for many years, the relic's protection area has been Mr. Tran Hoai Nam's sugarcane plantation, so this person mobilized mechanical vehicles to level and impact the relic.

In early May 2022, the Son Hoi commune interdisciplinary inspection team made a record, took photos of the current situation, and reported that Mr. Nam had arbitrarily hired a mechanical vehicle to renovate the land in the relic site, including a construction that was completely dug up, leveled, and piled up. The inspection team concluded that Mr. Nam's behavior showed signs of violating the Law on Cultural Heritage and Decree No. 38/2021/ND-CP dated March 29, 2021 of the Government. However, the case file was closed, and the violator was not handled according to the law.

It was not until September 2023 that Son Hoa district built and installed the stele of the historical site of Camp ATTK and set up the boundary markers for the protection of the site in Area 1, but up to now, the entire area of land has not been decided to be reclaimed by the competent authority. Therefore, for decades, people have used the excuse of reclaimed land to grow sugarcane in the historical site, occupying the remaining evidence of the site without any protection from the authorities and local governments.

Many people hope that the authorities will soon inspect and classify the "Than Dau Temple" relic and invest in restoration, showing the deep respect and gratitude of future generations to Phu Nghia Marquis Luong Van Chanh. In addition, it is necessary to take measures to reclaim land and build a fence to protect the historical relic of Camp ATTK before it is too late.
