In recent days, heavy rains have occurred in Ky Son district, causing serious landslides and rockfalls on some roads. In addition, some households in My Ly commune suffered landslides due to the rising water level of the Nam Non River. Currently, local authorities, functional agencies and people are making efforts to repair the landslides. Given the unpredictable weather, the authorities and people of Ky Son district are worried that flash floods may occur, especially at night.

Mr. Tho Ba Re - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Son district said: Currently, the weather is gloomy and cloudy, there is a possibility of more heavy rains. Therefore, the People's Committee of the district directs localities to propagate and guide people to proactively avoid areas with high risk of landslides, in which the most dangerous are households living on the two large rivers Nam Non and Nam Mo, because in recent days, in neighboring Laos, there has been heavy rain, the river water is rising.

For areas at high risk of flash floods and landslides in Son Ha and Hoa Son villages, Ta Ca commune, the district directed the commune and village authorities to send forces to be on duty. When there is a phenomenon of rising water at Huoi Giang stream, people should be evacuated from their homes to a safe place. People living near landslide areas should proactively evacuate when there is heavy rain.

"Currently, some households in Hoa Son and Son Ha villages have moved to safe places, but there are still some households living in temporary houses on both sides of streams and in areas at high risk of landslides. Therefore, the district has directed Ta Ca commune to arrange forces to be on duty 24/7 to have a plan to evacuate people when heavy rain occurs, especially at night," said Mr. Tho Ba Re.

Mr. Vi Van Truyen - Head of Hoa Son village, Ta Ca commune worriedly said that the past few days have been rainy, causing him and the village's Front Committee to lose their appetite and sleep, because they are afraid of flash floods and landslides that will not be able to be handled in time. Currently, dozens of households are living in temporary houses, dilapidated houses right next to streams and areas at high risk of landslides, due to the consequences of flash floods and landslides in October 2022.

Ky Son district is a mountainous area, divided by rivers, streams, and major traffic routes with steep slopes, making landslides very likely to occur during heavy rains. In particular, many villages and hamlets are located in areas with high risk of landslides, so during the rainy season, the common concern of flash floods and landslides for the authorities and people is inevitable./.
