Successfully reattached severed hand of Hai Phong City Police officer

On August 18, Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital (Hai Phong) announced that doctors had just successfully performed emergency surgery to reattach the hand of Pham Van Thang, an officer of the Mobile Police Department of Hai Phong City Police, who was injured while on duty to maintain security and order at Gia Minh Drug Rehabilitation Center (Thuy Nguyen District).

Previously, on the morning of August 17, while Mr. Thang was on duty, four people in a taxi, carrying banners and slogans, caused trouble in front of the center's gate. When warned, the group did not comply but used weapons to attack Mr. Thang, causing 1/3 of his right hand to be severed.

Immediately after that, Mr. Thang was taken to Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital, where he promptly underwent microsurgery to reattach his severed thumb, blood vessels, nerves, bones, and tendons. Currently, the patient's health is stable, but he needs to continue to be monitored due to the complexity of his injuries.

Hai Phong City Police urgently investigated and initially arrested Pham Van Truong (born in 1993, residing in Viet Khe commune, Hai Phong), one of the related subjects.
