New rural area of ​​Lam Dong, this is the last commune to meet the standards in what used to be poor district 30A

The last commune of Dam Rong district, Lieng Srong, has been recognized by Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee as meeting new rural standards.

At the end of February 2025, the People's Committee of Dam Rong district held a ceremony to announce the decision of the Provincial People's Committee to recognize Lieng Srong commune as meeting new rural standards in 2024. This is also the last commune of Dam Rong district - which used to be the poor district 30A of Lam Dong to meet new rural standards.

Leaders of the District Party Committee and People's Committee of Dam Rong district awarded the Certificate of recognition of the commune meeting new rural standards and presented flowers to congratulate the officials and people of Lieng Srong commune.

Since 1987, Lieng Srong commune has been a commune of Lam Ha district (Lam Dong province). In 2004, Dam Rong district was established, Lieng Srong commune was also separated from Lam Ha district and merged into Dam Rong district.

Since becoming a commune of Dam Rong district, the government and people of Lieng Srong commune have constantly strived to develop the economy and society. Currently, Lieng Srong commune has nearly 2,200 households with more than 8,000 people. In the commune, there are 15 ethnic groups living together, with about 20% being ethnic minorities from the northern mountainous provinces who migrated freely.

Lieng Srong commune has 75% of the population being ethnic minorities, so people's lives are still difficult and the economy is slow to develop.

With the proportion of ethnic minorities in Lieng Srong commune reaching 75%, a large area, people living in a scattered manner, and a slow-growing economy, the implementation of the National Target Program on new rural construction still faces many difficulties.

However, with the propaganda efforts of authorities at all levels and the proactive participation of people in building new rural areas, the National Target Program on building new rural areas in Lieng Srong has achieved positive results.

Ms. Da Cat K'Huong - Standing Deputy Secretary of Dam Rong District Party Committee presented a symbolic plaque to remove temporary and dilapidated houses in Lieng Srong commune.

Ms. Da Cat K'Huong awarded certificates of merit to 6 outstanding collectives in the new rural construction program in Lieng Srong commune.

Up to now, after 14 years of implementing the program, Lieng Sronh commune has mobilized nearly 267 billion VND to invest in building infrastructure such as roads, schools, medical stations, community cultural houses, irrigation works... for socio-economic development.

In 2023 and 2024, Lieng Sronh commune mobilized to build 108 houses for poor households and households with housing difficulties with a total cost of more than 4 billion VND. Currently, the commune basically no longer has households living in temporary or dilapidated houses but has solid houses, people have stable incomes, and their lives have improved.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Duc Bac - Vice Chairman of Dam Rong District People's Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated the results in building new rural areas in Lieng Srong Commune. At the same time, the Vice Chairman of Dam Rong District People's Committee also requested the commune to continue building new rural areas according to the policies and resolutions of the Central and the province.

Mr. Tran Duc Bac acknowledged and highly appreciated the results in building new rural areas in Lieng Sronh commune.

In addition, raise awareness of cadres, party members and people about the goal of building new rural areas, especially regularly promoting the role of people as the main subject in building new rural areas.

Currently, the average income per capita in Lieng Srong commune has only reached 46.43 million VND/person/year. However, the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved, the multidimensional poverty rate of the commune has decreased to 11.45%.
