"Low note" by Phu Ninh lake

Moderate investment

In 2013, the Provincial People's Committee assigned Hung Cuong Tourism Investment Joint Stock Company to invest in the Black Rock Hill - Phu Ninh Tourist Service Area Project (abbreviated as Phu Ninh Lake Tourist Area) with an area of ​​about 100 hectares. In which, phase 1 of the project was implemented with an area of ​​nearly 60 hectares, according to the plan, by August 2020 the project must complete phase 1 investment and put the project into operation.

Although the project's progress was later adjusted, the investment process of this project is still at a standstill, the obligation to deposit to ensure project implementation has not been fulfilled and the project has run out of progress (currently requesting an extension).

In the past time, the investor has spent hundreds of billions of VND to put into operation the management house, children's playground, camping and event organization area, single and double bungalow accommodation area, tourist boat dock, check-in point...

However, according to the Provincial People's Committee, Hung Cuong Tourism Investment Joint Stock Company (the investor) has not really paid attention to implementing the project. Meanwhile, Phu Ninh Lake Tourist Area is one of the highlights for developing tourism in the southern region of Quang Nam in particular and Quang Nam province in general. The project location has beautiful natural landscapes, many advantages for exploiting, doing business, and developing tourism services.

Many times, the Phu Ninh district government has been impatient when this project is still "slowly" implemented while Phu Ninh lake is considered one of the important "nuclei" to promote local socio -economic development.

According to a leader of Phu Ninh district, the locality has recently carried out zoning plans to call for investment promotion with the hope of having more businesses exploit tourism in Phu Ninh lake but has not been able to implement it yet. If this difficulty is not resolved, Phu Ninh will have a hard time developing.

Wasted potential

Phu Ninh Lake was built after the country was reunified. This project is considered a “miracle” of the land and people of Quang Nam. To this day, it is still the 6th largest irrigation lake in the country with many resources of flora and fauna ecosystems, hot mineral springs, etc.

Phu Ninh Lake is identified as one of the key factors to promote tourism linkage in the south of the province (in the Tam Ky - Nui Thanh - Phu Ninh axis), but so far, mainly only local visitors and visitors from neighboring provinces and cities use the service.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Thai Binh said that through surveys, some lakes in the northern provinces have long been exploited for tourism very effectively. While comparing the potential of Phu Ninh Lake's landscape, it is not inferior, and some resources are even more outstanding, but up to now, this destination has not developed to its full potential and spread its brand.

According to a representative of the Quang Nam Tourism Association, it is unclear what the investor of Phu Ninh Lake Tourist Area plans to develop, but in recent years it can be seen that the tourism products here are nothing new, making it difficult to create a highlight to attract visitors to the south.

Phu Ninh Lake tourism is simply eco-tourism. The process of exploring and building Phu Ninh Lake is also an interesting story. If we could bring the people living along the lake who participated in the construction process to design the tour and convey the story for visitors to experience, it would be very attractive, especially for international visitors.

Recently, the Provincial People's Committee has assigned departments, branches and Phu Ninh district to urgently review all documents and related legal procedures of the Phu Ninh Lake Tourist Area project to report and propose to the Provincial People's Committee to consider and comprehensively resolve this project before June 10, 2025.

More than a decade of sluggish investment has caused Phu Ninh to miss out on development opportunities. A definitive plan for the project’s fate will soon be put forward by the Quang Nam government, and it is hoped that it will pave the way for Phu Ninh tourism to have a boost.
