After a series of supporting roles with unique colors such as "sissy" Tu in "Under the tree of happiness", A Re in "Unbounded war", Dieu in "Black medicine", Meritorious Artist has his first leading role on prime time in the TV series "Cheer up, brothers" by director Vu Minh Tri.
"Cheer up, guys" revolves around the difficult but also extremely humorous and interesting start-up journey of three guys - Tien, Thang, Hung - played by Anh Duc, Thai Son and To Dung respectively. In the film, Thai Son's character Thang is sincere, emotional, and gentle with everyone around him. However, he is gullible and gullible, easily led astray.
Meritorious Artist Thai Son said this was the first time he played a role of a naive, gentle, slow-witted person, but this did not cause him any difficulty, because he revealed that in real life, his personality is also quiet and introverted.
"People see me playing extroverted roles but I'm actually an introvert and sincere person. If someone isn't familiar with me, I can't open up and talk much. I think this is still a type of role that is within my forte. It's not true to say it's not difficult because every role has its own difficulties. The actor has to be the one to conquer that. With the role of Thang, I'm 80% satisfied up to this point," Meritorious Artist Thai Son shared about his new role in "Cheer up, brothers".
Meritorious Artist Thai Son created the character with slow, humorous lines. He shared: "I think the creation of the character must first be the intention of the scriptwriter and director, then the creativity of the actors. Thang's slow, monotonous lines were the intention of the crew. I am not afraid of the audience's negative reaction because of this. I think the dosage, intensity and nature of each segment are carefully measured by the director. The director will definitely not let the character be boring and annoying."
Recently, Meritorious Artist Thai Son has been mentioned more by the audience with a series of interesting roles, however, the male artist shared that his acting frequency is not too dense. In 2024, "Cheer up, brothers" was the first film he participated in. However, Thai Son said that an actor, no matter how little or how much he appears, must overcome the challenge of renewing himself, cultivating everything so that no role is the same as another.
"Every day I look in the mirror and take pictures and feel that I am not a male god, not handsome. But I always think that each flower has its own scent and value. I always remind myself to do well the things that are my forte. Gradually trying and making efforts will make you successful, make an impression and have a place in the hearts of the audience," Meritorious Artist Thai Son expressed.
Actor Thai Son was born in 1983, from Hung Yen. He was a student of the Cheo class at the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema. After graduating in 2006, he joined the Vietnam Cheo Theatre.
During his artistic career, Thai Son has achieved some remarkable successes. In 2014, Thai Son won the Gold Medal in the National Professional Cheo Stage Talent Competition organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In 2016, at the National Professional Cheo Stage Art Competition, he won the Silver Medal. In the same year, he also won the Second Prize, Professional Category, My Village Cheo Festival held in Hung Yen .
In recent years, in addition to his cheo performances, Thai Son has also found success in comedy. The actor began to try his hand at movies and gradually became a popular face on television. Many viewers commented that Thai Son is very suitable for the roles of sharp and sarcastic characters.
When asked if Thai Son is like the sarcastic, sarcastic characters he plays in movies, Thai Son said: "I think I have multiple personalities. When I'm under a lot of pressure, I'm probably a bit sarcastic. On the contrary, when everything is going smoothly, my personality is calm."
Having been involved in the arts for nearly 20 years, Thai Son has only recently become widely known to the public. Compared to his juniors, the male artist is considered a "late bloomer".
Thai Son once confided that he was afraid of being boring in the eyes of the audience. He believes that being loved by the audience is more difficult than "upgrading the rank", but trying to "stay in the rank" is even more difficult. In the near future, he hopes to develop comedy products combined with music , taking advantage of his singing skills to create his own personal mark on the audience.
