Doan Hoai Khanh Ly, a former student of the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education (GDNN-GDTX) in District 12 (old), was admitted to the sociology major at Ho Chi Minh City Open University with 27.75 points in block C20 (literature, geography, economic education - law). She is also the new student with the highest score in the school, receiving a 200% scholarship for the first year and free tuition for the following years.

Studying GDTX to save money for the family
Khanh Ly shared that when she was in middle school, she was quite playful and did not understand how important studying was. On the day she registered for admission to a public high school, Ly was also subjective, only registering 2 options instead of 3 like her classmates.
Ly said her family has 3 sisters, Ly is the second child. Even though working as a factory worker is hard, her parents always create the best conditions for her sisters to study and become successful.
"The day I heard that I failed the public high school entrance exam, I was very sad, and so was my whole family. Everyone wanted me to study at a private high school, but the tuition was very high. So I chose to study at a vocational training center near my home," Ly confided.

During 12 years of school, Ly always achieved good and excellent academic results. In grade 12, Ly also joined the city-level geography competition team and won second prize, which is also her favorite subject.
Admitted to Ho Chi Minh City Open University with a score of 27.75 in block C20, and also being the valedictorian of the whole school, she smiled brightly and humbly said it was just luck.
"Outside of school hours, I review my lessons at home and don't go to extra classes. I think the knowledge the teachers teach is more than enough to pass the national high school graduation exam. I just need to master the knowledge and diligently do extra exercises. I don't feel any pressure at all" - Khanh Ly said.
Surprise and emotional outburst
Khanh Ly recalls the day she checked her admission results and was surprised to see the words "congratulations on having the highest admission score in the school and receiving the valedictorian scholarship". At first, she seemed happy, but then she thought it was a scam because at that time the Ministry of Education and Training's website was not yet available for checking.
And so she remained calm, pretending not to know anything. It was not until the school called to inform her directly that Ly was overwhelmed with emotion.
"I thought I was happy and proud to have passed the university entrance exam. I didn't think I was valedictorian, and I didn't think I would receive a 200% scholarship" - Ly said with a smile.
Mr. Tran Van Nam, a geography teacher at the Vocational Education Center of District 12, gave his young student many compliments. Khanh Ly has good self-study ability, high concentration, and often spends time in class to review and do exercises. In addition, Ly also tutors students who are less able to learn.

On the opening day of Ho Chi Minh City Open University recently, a female student radiantly stepped forward to receive a prestigious scholarship. She is a shining example proving that starting point does not matter, any educational environment will train talented people, the most important thing is the spirit of striving of each individual.
