(NLDO) - The leader of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City said that the City People's Committee has concluded to pay the money that 41 schools "owe" to teachers.

On October 16, at the regular press conference for the third quarter of 2025 organized by the People's Committee of Can Tho City, a reporter asked how the city is currently resolving the issue of 41 schools in Soc Trang province (old) owing teachers nearly 30 billion VND in the 2024-2025 school year?

Ms. Tran Thi Huyen, Acting Director of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, answered at the press conference.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Huyen, Acting Director of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, the issue raised by the press in the area of ​​Soc Trang province (old) is that there is a debt to teachers in terms of hours, sessions and review for students taking the high school graduation exam in 2025. The education sector has grasped this information and has also had a working session with the Department of Finance.

"The City People's Committee concluded that the industry will consult with finance to pay this amount to the teaching staff as soon as possible," Ms. Huyen affirmed.

According to Ms. Huyen, the solution is already there, because the budget when handing over the old Soc Trang province is still 16 billion VND, the education sector will use that amount to pay for teachers' salaries and will save in the task of spending on education to pay. If there is still a shortage, the sector will submit to the Department of Finance to request compensation.
