After storm No. 11, floods from Thai Nguyen and Bac Ninh poured in. The water of Cau River and its branches, Ca Lo River and Cong River, rose high, overflowed the dike into villages on both sides of the river, inundating many villages and communes in Soc Son district (old).
The railway section running through Trung Gia commune had its foundation and rocks washed away by water for about 20 meters.
Some sections of national highway running through Soc Son district (old) were cut off by water, making it difficult for vehicles to move.
Trung Gia commune has 18 isolated villages, with more than 4,000 households and 16,400 people affected by flooding.
In recent days, authorities have had to use high-chassis rescue vehicles to transport people through flooded areas.
Many villages in Trung Gia commune were flooded more than 1 meter deep, disrupting people's lives.
Authorities put up warning signs on a section of National Highway 3 that was deeply flooded so that vehicles could proactively move to another route.
Hanoi City has mobilized 1,200 officers and soldiers to evacuate people from flooded areas in Soc Son district (old).
On the morning of October 10, authorities focused on evacuating the elderly and children from flooded areas in Trung Gia commune, while young people stayed behind to look after their homes.
