When talking about Ninh Hoa, we cannot help but mention the salt making profession in Hon Khoi, the vast salt fields with an area of over 700 hectares, where salt workers have been attached to their whole lives, from generation to generation.
From March to September every year, salt is exploited by salt workers using the traditional method: seawater after passing through many reservoirs to increase salinity will be brought to the fields to crystallize. From 4am the next morning, salt workers start scooping and transferring salt to the shore. They only rest in the middle of the day and return to work in the late afternoon.
Although it is hard work, everyone is friendly and hospitable, sharing stories about life and work. Salt is not just a job to make a living but a destiny in life.
