Below are typical cooperative scales that have achieved high efficiency in a short time after being established in localities.
The Ganh Dau Commune Aquaculture Agricultural Service Cooperative (Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province) was established in 2018. At that time, there were 16 members participating, and now it has grown to 36 members.
The cooperative is a model of both aquaculture and tourism development. The products of the members are raised to supply all the floating houses and restaurants in the city. Thanks to favorable weather conditions, natural environment, techniques combined with farming experience, the fish are less susceptible to diseases, grow well, the survival rate and harvest rate is up to 75 - 80%.

Each member raises 4,000 - 5,000 fish, mainly cobia, red snapper, giant trevally, yellow pomfret, grouper... The stocking period is 10 - 12 months for harvest, the main food is trash fish. Each year, each member earns about 200 - 300 million VND from selling fish. The important thing is that the output is stable, so people feel secure participating.
Many cooperative members said that in the past, people only fished, but in the long run, seafood resources were depleted, so they thought about combining farming with fishing. However, small-scale farming has not been very effective.
But when there is a cooperative, members exchange experiences and techniques to help each other with useful information. In addition, combining tourism creates a more stable output, better prices and better income. Tourists can visit fish farms, take check-in photos, be served meals right on the farms if needed or can buy fish to take home.
The Economic & Urban Newspaper published the story of Dai Ang High-Tech Aquaculture Cooperative (Thanh Tri District, Hanoi). In 2018, the Dai Ang commune government mobilized households and acted as intermediaries to organize families to sign contracts to lease more than 10 hectares of land. The entire area was previously ponds but agricultural production was ineffective, people often abandoned their fields and did not produce. This area was then handed over to Dai Ang High-Tech Aquaculture Cooperative to develop an aquaculture model applying "river in pond" technology.
With the land area rented from households, Dai Ang High-Tech Aquaculture Cooperative has started digging, renovating and investing tens of billions of VND to build an aquaculture model applying "river in pond" technology. The pond area has 15 tanks, with air blowers at the top of the tanks, pumping water into the water to create a flow so that fish can be raised in an oxygen-rich water environment. Aeration and fish waste collection systems have also been installed to help clean the pond environment.
Creating a flow with the fish's habit of swimming against the current makes the fish meat more delicious and firmer than naturally farmed.
Up to now, after more than 5 years, Dai Ang High-Tech Aquaculture Cooperative has been operating stably. Currently, on average, each year the Cooperative supplies the market with about 250 tons of various types of aquatic products, mainly grass carp, common carp, bighead carp, tilapia, red tilapia, etc.

The cooperative's high-tech aquaculture model has been granted VietGAP certification by the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Seafood products are regularly sampled and tested, and for many years no unsafe cases have been detected.
Not only farming itself, the Cooperative also cooperates with many units inside and outside Thanh Tri district to promote seafood consumption. The total number of units in the Cooperative's chain has reached more than 70 households. 100% of the associated units must ensure VietGAP farming technical standards and preservation and processing to HACCP quality.
In Thanh Hoa province, in recent years, aquaculture activities have developed strongly, bringing high economic efficiency to people, including many effective aquaculture and exploitation cooperative models.
Hop Thanh Aquaculture Cooperative, Quang Nham Commune, Quang Xuong District shared that the Cooperative was established in June 2016. Currently, the Cooperative has nearly 100 hectares of aquaculture with 30 member households, creating jobs for nearly 100 workers. Thanks to the application of science and technology and the implementation of product consumption linkage, the Cooperative's operations are stable and gradually developing, with an average revenue of 3 billion VND/year.
After deducting expenses, the income of members is from 7 to 10 million VND/person/month. According to the members, the cooperative was established as a bridge for farming households to exchange production experiences, support each other in terms of seed sources, food sources and find consumption markets. Thanks to that, local aquaculture farmers are familiar with concentrated, linked and sustainable production methods.
After 7 years of operation, the cooperative has contributed to forming a large-scale production mindset, applying intensive farming methods for the people. Up to now, along with taking advantage of local food sources, cooperative members have boldly invested in using industrial feed for intensive farming, increasing economic efficiency.
