OceanBank suddenly increased interest rates

After many days of silence, yesterday, August 28, OceanBank suddenly reduced the interest rate for deposits of 6-36 months by 0.6 percentage points. Thereby, there is officially no longer any term with an interest rate above 7% when depositing money at this bank.

However, just one day later, according to the online interest rate schedule announced on the morning of August 29, OceanBank increased the interest rate for 6-36 month terms again with an increase of 0.1 percentage point for each term.

Currently, online deposit interest rates at OceanBank are as follows: Interest rate for 6-8 month term is 6.1%/year, 9-11 month term is 6.2%/year, 12-13 month term is 6.4%/year, 15 month term is 6.6%/year and 18-36 month term has the highest interest rate of 6.8%/year.

For the second time this month, BVBank reduced interest rates for deposits with terms from 6-24 months by 0.3 percentage points.

According to BVBank's new online interest rate schedule, the interest rate for 6-7 month deposits is 6.25%/year, 8-9 month deposits is 6.35%/year, 10-11 month deposits is 6.45%/year, 12-5 month deposits is 6.55%/year and 18-24 month deposits is 6.65%/year.

Also today, VIB Bank reduced deposit interest rates for the fifth time since the beginning of August with a 0.2 percentage point reduction in interest rates for terms of 6-36 months.

Accordingly, online interest rates for deposits under 300 million VND at VIB for terms of 6-11 months are 5.6%/year, terms of 15-18 months are 6.2%/year and terms of 24-36 months are 6.4%/year.

Apart from the three banks mentioned above, interest rates at the remaining banks remained unchanged compared to yesterday morning.

According to statistics from the beginning of August until now, banks that have reduced deposit interest rates include: BIDV, Vietcombank, Agribank, VietinBank, TPBank, ACB, Eximbank, Techcombank, NCB, VietBank, ABBank, OceanBank, HDBank, Sacombank, VIB, VPBank, MSB, BacA Bank, Saigonbank, CBBank, VietA Bank, SHB , OCB, BaoViet Bank, BVBank, GPBank, MB, SeABank, VietA Bank, SCB, Pvcombank, PG Bank and KienLongBank.

Of which, Sacombank, BacA Bank, TPBank, SHB, HDBank , CBBank, MSB, BVBank and MB have reduced interest rates twice since the beginning of the month.

BaoViet Bank and Saigonbank GPBank have reduced interest rates three times since the beginning of the month.

Techcombank, VietBank and NCB have reduced interest rates up to 4 times, while ACB and VIB have reduced interest rates up to 5 times since the beginning of the month. Eximbank has even reduced interest rates 6 times.
