Immediately after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the second round of elections held on May 28, world leaders sent him congratulations.
Russia and Belarus
According to an announcement from the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated his Turkish counterpart and called him a "dear friend".

In his congratulatory message, Putin said the victory was a “logical result” of Erdogan’s efforts and evidence of the people’s support for the country’s foreign policy. The Russian president also expressed his desire to continue dialogue on issues on the bilateral, regional and international agenda, TASS news agency reported.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Erdogan on his re-election, calling it a convincing victory. According to Lukashenko, despite the socio-political changes in Turkey, the country has maintained social stability, and this is largely thanks to Erdogan.
America, Ukraine and Europe
On the US side, President Joe Biden wrote on Twitter, expressing his desire to continue to cooperate with Türkiye as a NATO ally on bilateral issues and global challenges, Reuters reported. US-Turkey relations have recently been affected by Erdogan's opposition to Sweden's NATO membership, Ankara's close relationship with Moscow and differences on the Syria issue.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Erdogan on his victory, saying he would promote “cooperation for the security and stability of Europe.” Earlier, the Turkish president brokered a key deal that would allow Ukraine to ship grain through Russian-controlled Black Sea ports to prevent a global food crisis, according to Ukrinform news agency.
For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron said France and Turkey "will continue to move forward," the AA news agency reported. According to him, the two countries have enormous challenges to face together, including restoring peace to Europe.
In a congratulatory message to Mr. Erdogan, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz noted that the people and economies of the two countries are "deeply connected" and promoted future bilateral agendas, according to Reuters.
European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Mr Erdogan.
On Twitter, Mr. Michel urged the parties to deepen the EU-Türkiye relationship in the coming years." Meanwhile, Ms. von der Leyen also called for increased cooperation for the common good.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson tweeted his congratulations, stressing that the security of both countries “is a priority for the future.” Erdogan’s government has made it difficult for Sweden to join NATO after accusing Stockholm of providing shelter to members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Syria, which Ankara considers terrorist groups.
Middle East
The presidents of Iran, Israel and the king of Saudi Arabia were among the Middle Eastern leaders who congratulated Erdogan. Erdogan, who has had several conflicts with many governments in the region over the years, has taken a more conciliatory stance in recent years, AA reported.
Saudi Arabia's King Salman has congratulated Erdogan on his presidential election victory, according to Saudi state news agency.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog said he was "confident" that he and Erdogan "will continue to work together to strengthen and expand the good relations" between the two countries. Meanwhile, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi called Erdogan's victory a sign of the Turkish people's trust in him.
