Petrovietnam accompanies Lai Chau in taking care of education for students in the border mountainous areas

Attending the working session, on behalf of the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group, there were leaders of the Group's professional departments.

On the side of Lai Chau province, there were Mr. Tong Thanh Hai, Permanent Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments and branches of the province.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Members of Petrovietnam Group Le Manh Hung emphasized: Over the years, Petrovietnam has always fulfilled well the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the People in production and business activities in the energy industry, ensuring 5 An for the country. With the role of a leading "national enterprise" in the country, leading the country's economy , Petrovietnam always cares and devotes many resources to social security work, fulfilling its corporate responsibility to society. From 2011 to present, Petrovietnam has spent 10.3 trillion VND to sponsor, support and implement social security activities nationwide, in which in the period 2020 - 2025, Petrovietnam has carried out social security work at a record high of 5.13 trillion VND, including many large programs such as "Eliminating temporary houses, dilapidated houses", "Preventing Covid-19" or "Overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, storms and floods" and is currently implementing the Stem Innovation Petrovietnam education program.

For Lai Chau province, Petrovietnam and its member units have implemented a number of social security programs such as funding: Construction of a number of educational items at Nung Nang Primary and Secondary School, Tam Duong district (2.5 billion VND); construction of a number of educational items at Ta Ngao Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, Sin Ho district (2.5 billion VND); construction of the Headmaster's House of Pa U Commune Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, Muong Te district (3.5 billion VND); supporting Lai Chau province to overcome the consequences of storms and floods (floods in 2018, storm No. 3 Yagi in 2024, 500 million VND, ...). Most recently, funding the construction of Phong Tho Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project with 100 billion VND according to the policy of the Politburo.

It is known that this is a project of profound human significance, contributing to improving the quality of education in border areas, creating stable learning and living conditions for ethnic minority children. Up to now, the province has started construction of 3 primary and secondary boarding schools: Bum Nua, Pa Tan, Phong Tho. Of which, Phong Tho primary and secondary boarding school is supported by Petrovietnam. To ensure completion before the 2026-2027 school year.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Le Minh Ngan - Secretary of Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee highly appreciated the role of Petrovietnam in the country's energy industry, and sincerely thanked the Group for its companionship and practical support for Lai Chau in the past time.

He affirmed: The Party Committee, the government and the people of all ethnic groups in Lai Chau always respect and acknowledge Petrovietnam's contributions not only in the energy industry, but also in social security work. The Phong Tho Primary and Secondary Boarding School project has profound political and humanistic significance, demonstrating the spirit of community and national borders of the Group's employees. He also hoped that the two sides would continue to maintain a regular coordination mechanism to remove difficulties, speed up progress and support additional funding to invest in the construction of the Phong Tho Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project. According to the estimated total investment of the Phong Tho Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project, it is about 245 billion, so Lai Chau province requested the Group to continue to pay attention to supporting the remaining funding to complete the project.

Concluding the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue to closely coordinate in completing funding procedures, ensuring disbursement progress in accordance with legal regulations; at the same time, the Group agreed to support additional funding to invest in the construction and completion of the Phong Tho Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project and in addition, it will sponsor an additional amount of over 10 billion VND to build 3 STEM practice classrooms, contributing to the innovation of local education.
