On January 3, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) celebrated the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Vinh Long Branch of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH Vinh Long) and officially announced the change of name to UEH Mekong.

Dr. Bui Van Nghiem - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc - Deputy Minister of Education and Training, along with leaders and former leaders of ministries, branches and Vinh Long province attended the ceremony.
Over the past 5 years, UEH Vinh Long has achieved many proud results. From 6 initial training majors, now there are 15 undergraduate majors and 11 postgraduate majors. The number of full-time students has increased nearly 10 times, from 223 students in 2020 to more than 2,180 university students in 2024. UEH Vinh Long Branch has been training nearly 700 graduate students in 11 training programs. In the field of scientific research, UEH Vinh Long has nearly 500 published works...
At the ceremony, the name change of UEH Vinh Long was officially announced as UEH Mekong, carrying out the mission of raising knowledge, training high-quality human resources, integrating and transferring globally; pioneering innovation, creativity, serving the community for a prosperous Mekong Delta region; promoting scientific research and applied research for a sustainable Mekong Delta and Mekong sub-region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc suggested that the school's leaders should effectively implement policies and resolutions on comprehensive and fundamental innovation in education and training. Develop and deploy solutions, develop the school into a research center, and provide innovative solutions for Vinh Long province and the Mekong Delta region.
At the same time, continue to maintain and implement well the policies to support learners. Promote digital transformation in education and administration; strongly apply digital technology in management, teaching and learning, creating a smart university model. Organize the implementation of international cooperation and regional integration programs in the coming time.
