This morning, April 4, at the Lao Bao International Border Gate (CKQT) Border Guard Station (Huong Hoa district), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Provincial Border Guard Command to launch the program "Books and reading culture in the highland border" in 2024.

Director of the Provincial Library Ho Ngoc Thien said that, identifying reading culture as an important contribution to the cause of building and developing the country, in recent years, the Party and State have had many policies and guidelines to encourage the development of reading culture.
In Quang Tri province, in recent years, reading culture has also been given attention and developed extensively, receiving the attention of the whole society.

The program "Books and reading culture in mountainous border areas" in 2024 is a joint effort, demonstrating the sense of responsibility of all levels, sectors, mass organizations, and armed forces in the province to contribute to spreading reading culture, enhancing access to information and knowledge for people in remote, isolated, and ethnic minority areas.
Thereby, contributing to improving the quality of cultural and spiritual life of people in ethnic minority areas.

Within the framework of the program, the organizing committee handed over 31 community bookcases to mountainous communes and ethnic minority areas; handed over books and built 9 "border reading rooms" for border posts; and donated 16 bookcases to schools in the area.
