Ancient Etruscan tomb containing huge treasure discovered

The excavation of a 2,600-year-old tomb in Italy stunned archaeologists when they found more than 100 extremely rare artifacts, revealing ancient mysteries.

The tomb, carved from rock in the shape of a small house, contained the remains of four people lying on stone beds. The remains were surrounded by more than 100 artifacts, including pottery, weapons, bronze jewelry and silver hair accessories. Photo: Jerolyn Morrison.

Initial research has revealed that the four individuals buried in the grave were two males and two females. Further analysis of the remains could provide important information about their lives before death and the cause of death. Photo: Jerolyn Morrison.

Although experts have excavated many other Etruscan tombs in the area, all have been looted to some extent. The newly discovered tomb is incredibly intact, having not been “visited” by grave robbers in thousands of years. Photo: Baylor University.
