On the afternoon of May 14, Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh - Vice Chairman of Tuy Hoa City People's Committee - said that on the morning of the same day, while constructing a number of items at the special national relic site of Nhan Tower, workers from the City's Land Fund Development and Investment Project Management Board discovered an object suspected to be military ammunition.
Authorities have assessed and determined that it is an M79 bullet that is still quite intact. The military has collected and processed the above bullet.
Previously in November 2010, construction units clearing a residential area in the northwest at the foot of Nhan Mountain (Tuy Hoa City) and local residents also discovered many 81mm mortar shells there.
During the two resistance wars, Nhan mountain was the enemy's artillery position to block our army from attacking Tuy Hoa city from the direction of Ong Chu bridge.
According to historical records, Nhan Tower was built around the end of the 11th century, and is one of the largest towers of the Cham people. The architecture of Nhan Tower is a transition between the My Son A1 architectural style and the Binh Dinh architectural style, dating from around the end of the 11th century to the beginning of the 12th century.
