At the 1st Congress of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, term 2025 - 2030, presenting a speech with the topic: " Viewpoints and awareness on preserving national cultural heritage through documents of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (14th Congress) and the Political Report of the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism", Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage Le Thi Thu Hien said that Vietnam currently has 34 cultural heritages listed/recognized by UNESCO, including 08 world heritages, 16 intangible cultural heritages in UNESCO's lists and 10 documentary heritages. 143 special national relics, 3,628 national relics, about 11,000 provincial and city-level relics; 70,000 intangible cultural heritages have been inventoried, 610 intangible cultural heritages have been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages; 203 museums, including 76 non-public museums, preserve more than 4,000,000 artifacts, including 327 national treasures.
"These are invaluable cultural assets that contribute to the richness and enrichment of Vietnam's cultural treasures, thereby affirming Vietnam's role and position in the international arena. Many cultural heritages of Vietnam have become destinations and tourist attractions, bringing in thousands of billions of VND in revenue for localities and people in areas with heritages, thereby developing the country's economy and consolidating politics and society," said Director Le Thi Thu Hien.

According to the Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage, the sustainable conservation of natural heritage and the protection of scenic spots have created a driving force to promote the protection of the natural environment and social environment. Protecting cultural heritage is also the conservation of tangible cultural heritage values and intangible cultural heritage; ancient quarters, ancient villages, ancient houses, traditional festivals, traditional crafts, secrets passed down through documentary books, woodblocks, artisan practices... are a rich cultural treasure and cultural heritage that is the foundation for the creation and development of the cultural industry in Vietnam.
Cultural heritage, viewed from the perspective of national cultural values and traditions, has become a national brand that contributes to consolidating and enhancing the country's role and position in the international arena and in terms of economic development and international cultural exchange.
Director Le Thi Thu Hien said that the summary of 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress has continued to affirm the role, position and contribution of national cultural heritage in the cultural field.
In terms of theoretical awareness, in the Document of the 13th Party Central Committee, a draft summary report was developed, a comprehensive assessment of culture was organized, the results achieved were evaluated, and lessons and limitations were drawn during the 13th National Party Congress for the period 2021-2025.
The Party Central Committee has recognized and evaluated the contributions and great influence of cultural heritage on people's lives, economic and social development, security and national defense of the country.
Specifically, the Document stated: "The work of preserving and promoting the value of national cultural heritage has had many important policies and orientations, affirming the role of cultural heritage in the country's development. Identifying cultural heritage as an important endogenous resource for sustainable national development, a soft power in international cooperation and exchange. Promoting the value of cultural heritage is to exploit endogenous strength to develop a prosperous, prosperous and sustainable country; preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage is a regular task of the community and the state in which the Party always plays a leading role".
Performing arts at the Congress
The document of the 13th Party Central Committee also assessed and recognized the achievements of the work of protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage in the construction and development of Vietnamese culture, specifically: "Many tangible cultural heritages have been restored and preserved; many domestic and international cultural heritages have been recognized and ranked; many intangible cultural heritages have been collected, taught and practiced. The policy of socializing cultural heritage conservation activities has attracted social resources to participate in protecting national cultural identity; the conservation and promotion of cultural and natural heritage values associated with sustainable tourism development has been focused on".
Regarding the proposed solutions for the 14th National Party Congress, the Document also pointed out specific tasks and solutions, including the orientation of cultural development associated with the preservation and embellishment of national cultural heritage, which is: "Preserving, embellishing and strongly promoting the traditional cultural values of the people. Promoting traditions, promoting culture, tangible cultural heritage, and specific intangible cultural heritage of Vietnam with international competitiveness".
Also according to the Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage, awareness of the Political Report of the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the aspect of preserving national cultural heritage.
Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage Le Thi Thu Hien said that in order to promote the sustainable development of cultural heritage values, in accordance with the spirit of the Political Report on deep connection with tourism and cultural industries to create many new values, in the coming time, some key and breakthrough tasks in the field of Cultural Heritage are:
Organize and effectively implement the Law on Cultural Heritage 2024; Propagate, disseminate, and raise awareness of the whole society about the consciousness of protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage.
Continue to build and complete scientific dossiers to propose recognition and registration of cultural heritage, effectively exploit the values of cultural heritage, resources for socio-economic development and invaluable resources for tourism development, cultural industry development; Continue to research, build and complete scientific dossiers of cultural heritage to propose UNESCO recognition and registration in the coming time.
In addition, innovating the content and form of museum displays, digital transformation, and applying information technology in display, introduction, and education activities at museums;
Effectively implement the Project to digitize Vietnamese cultural heritage, document the document system and build a national database on cultural heritage, digitize cultural heritage... to serve the work of archiving, preserving, operating, connecting, exploiting and sharing interconnected data nationwide, achieving the goal of each cultural heritage of Vietnam having a digital presence and forming a digital heritage version so that people and tourists can access it conveniently in the digital environment, promoting the value of national cultural heritage in the electronic environment in the new era.
