Promoting patriotic emulation movement, affirming the position of leading university

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Le Quan gave a speech at the Patriotic Emulation Congress.

According to the summary report of the patriotic emulation movement and reward work for the period 2020-2025, Hanoi National University has achieved many outstanding achievements.

Under the leadership of the Party and Government, and the close direction of the Board of Directors, emulation movements throughout Hanoi National University have been widely deployed, associated with key political tasks.

The movements “Innovation in research and teaching”, “Hanoi National University students start-up and integrate”, “The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas” and “For the poor - no one is left behind” have really gone into depth, arousing the spirit of solidarity, creativity and responsibility of nearly 60 thousand officials, employees and students of Hanoi National University.

Hanoi National University has made great strides in training, scientific research and innovation. The system of strong research groups meeting international standards is expanding, international publications exceed 2,000 articles/year, and many basic and applied sciences are given priority for focused investment.

The work of discovering, fostering and replicating advanced models has been carried out synchronously, with thousands of collectives and individuals being honored and rewarded at the State, ministry, industry and city levels.

Along with research achievements, volunteer activities, start-ups and community service also leave a strong mark. In the youth volunteer movement alone, each year there are hundreds of practical projects and tasks such as concreting village roads, building children's playgrounds, installing solar power for remote schools, organizing thousands of medical examinations and giving gifts to poor students.

The programs "Green Summer", "Warm Winter", "Volunteer Spring" have spread the beautiful image of Hanoi National University students full of compassion and responsibility to the community.

However, besides the achieved results, the emulation and reward work still has limitations: some units have not maintained regular emulation movements; the connection between the movement and professional tasks is not uniform; the work of discovering and fostering typical factors is sometimes and in some places not timely.

Entering the 2025-2030 period, Hanoi National University identifies patriotic emulation as a key driving force to concretize the Party's major resolutions, especially Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on science, technology development and innovation; Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on educational breakthroughs and Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW on intellectual development.

In that spirit, the emulation movements will focus on three pillars: Building Hanoi National University into a leading regional center of knowledge, science, technology and innovation; developing elite, high-quality human resources to meet digital transformation and international integration; pioneering in implementing social responsibility, making practical contributions to community and national development.

Hanoi National University continues to attach importance to discovering, nurturing and replicating advanced models, promptly rewarding them to encourage the striving spirit of the collective and individuals. Emulation movements are organized in an in-depth manner, linked to strategic tasks: Developing cutting-edge technology institutes such as Semiconductors and Advanced Materials, Quantum Technology, Artificial Intelligence; expanding the international cooperation network; and building Hoa Lac into a green, smart, and creative university center.

The spirit of innovation, creativity, solidarity and dedication will be the guiding principle for Hanoi National University to realize its aspiration to reach the top 500 universities in the world, and at the same time become a core science and education center serving the country's development in the new period.

Speaking at the Congress, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Le Quan emphasized that in each period, the National University always strives to innovate and create; inherit traditions, promote solidarity and collective strength; and at the same time affirm the role of the team of scientists to achieve many important achievements.

Over the past 5 years, despite facing many difficulties in terms of mechanisms, policies and limited resources, the collective of staff, lecturers and students of Hanoi National University has promoted the spirit of emulation, taking on the role and mission of striving for innovation and creativity. Each individual, unit and organization has always shown energy and determination to overcome difficulties.

The Deputy Minister assessed that in recent times, many emulation movements have been launched and actively responded to by Hanoi National University, recognized by specific achievements, and expressed the hope that these values will continue to be strongly promoted in the coming period.

According to the Deputy Minister, the country is facing opportunities and challenges in a new era, developing based on innovation and high-quality human resources. Many important resolutions have been issued and are in the process of being implemented.

Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training is preparing a draft and promulgating a sector-wide action program, aiming to fundamentally innovate education and training; turning universities into centers of scientific research and innovation.

In the coming period, Hanoi National University will play an important role, being identified as the leading university in Vietnam, taking a pioneering role in innovation.

The Ministry of Education and Training wishes to continue to accompany and support Hanoi National University as it makes important adjustments, aiming to become one of the top 100 universities in the world. The Deputy Minister emphasized that to achieve this goal, the emulation movement plays an important role. With a spirit of determination, each teacher and student of Hanoi National University will continue to strive, be creative, and achieve many outstanding achievements.

Director of Hanoi National University Hoang Minh Son affirmed that the Congress is an opportunity to look back on 5 years of vibrant emulation movement, praising the achievements that Hanoi National University has achieved thanks to the spirit of solidarity "One VNU". He assessed that the emulation movement has gone into depth with many initiatives in teaching, research and management, associated with the spirit of "Emulation is patriotism" as Uncle Ho called.

The Director of Hanoi National University emphasized that the emulation viewpoint is not only to affirm the pinnacle of knowledge but also to contribute to the country. Hanoi National University is determined to contribute to realizing the aspiration of Vietnam becoming a developed country by 2045, especially in the context of Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Resolution 71-NQ/TW opening up great opportunities for higher education.

From there, Director of Hanoi National University Hoang Minh Son launched the emulation movement for the period 2025-2030, calling on cadres, civil servants and students to promote the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and passion to excellently complete the task.
