DTO - The Provincial People's Committee has just directed relevant departments, branches and units to focus on implementing solutions to develop the Dong Thap lotus industry according to the value chain associated with circular economy and green growth.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to focus on researching and supporting the development of deep processing industry for new lotus products (mixed products, high value-added products, vegan products, etc.) according to the needs of production and business units and support the development of consumer markets for products according to market signals.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development needs to study the application of natural solutions in production to preserve and restore ecosystems to adapt to climate change, limit the use of toxic pesticides; research and build a database system on raw materials and products from lotus in 2024.
The Provincial People's Committee also directed the Department of Science and Technology to study the application of biological products to replace fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture; deploy applications and scientific topics in developing deeply processed products such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, fashion... to increase the lotus value chain by 2027.
Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Coordinates with District and City People's Committees and relevant units to build and develop lotus tourism model into experiential agricultural tourism, towards a multi-functional business model, sustainable tourism development, contributing to building and promoting local brands in 2024.
Dong Thap Lotus Industry Association proactively grasps market information and business performance to promptly exchange information and propose policies with relevant departments and branches; promptly orients market trends, updates new technologies, shares experiences, information, science and technology in production, develops and processes new products to members and supports members in trade promotion, promoting Dong Thap lotus products to domestic and international markets.
