However, it is necessary to have synchronous connection, create a wide and complete network to be able to take full advantage of this model.

Development in both scale and technology
In late April, the Bac Giang International Logistics Center officially came into operation. With a scale of 67 hectares, the center aims to connect modes of transport: air, sea, rail, road as well as the river network that is developing strongly in the region.
According to Deputy General Director of Bac Giang International Logistics Company Limited, Truong Thi Mui, the center develops in a cross-chain and integrated manner, while developing in a green and smart direction.
Also developing a comprehensive ecosystem for a cross-border export logistics chain system, Viettel Lang Son Logistics Park will come into operation in phase 1 at the end of 2024. With an area of 143 hectares, Viettel Lang Son Logistics Park has the most modern scale in the North and the whole country.
Statistics from the Import-Export Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) show that in the period 2007-2012, the whole country had only 6 logistics centers, but in the past 10 years, this number has increased 10 times, with 69 centers of increasingly modern scale. Previously, logistics centers were mainly concentrated in the Southeast region, but now large logistics centers have also appeared in the North and Central regions.
Not only developing in quantity and scale, logistics centers are increasingly invested in operating technology. From 2017 to now, traditional logistics centers have transformed into modern logistics centers applying 4.0 technology. These centers are diverse in types, integrating cold storage, bonded warehouses or domestic warehouses, some logistics centers are built specifically to serve agricultural products...
Increase connectivity of logistics centers
Logistics is identified as an important service industry, playing a supporting, connecting and promoting role in the socio-economic development of the whole country. Many modern logistics centers, with synchronous infrastructure, are increasingly being invested and developed by localities and enterprises. These logistics centers perform functions from basic to advanced such as storage, loading and unloading of goods, classification of goods, creation of added value, reverse logistics, trade promotion activities as well as promoting product consumption.
However, due to the lack of effective connections to form a more complete network, it is currently impossible to fully exploit the advantages of the logistics market model. On the other hand, the uneven distribution of logistics centers and the lack of regional connectivity have caused many centers to operate separately, failing to take advantage of scale. For example, key production areas such as the Mekong Delta, the Central Highlands, etc., which supply the majority of vegetables, fruits and seafood, still lack specialized storage and distribution facilities.
General Director of Hoa Phat Logistics Hoang Dinh Kien said that the company is under double pressure, between the rising prices of raw materials and fuel on one side and the demand for service price reduction from customers on the other side. Without shared infrastructure, taking advantage of turn-around and shared cold storage, it is difficult to maintain product quality and ensure competitive prices.
"The logistics industry needs a specialized digital platform that connects cold transport needs between exporting enterprises and operating units. This system needs to integrate real-time data to help optimize routes, warehouse capacity and loading and unloading capacity," said Mr. Hoang Dinh Kien.
According to Dao Van Thuan, Deputy Director of Viettel Lang Son Logistics Park, thanks to the implementation of the full-process export service to China, customs clearance time has been reduced by nearly 40%. However, to expand the scale and efficiency, it is necessary to have stronger connections with the network of logistics centers across the country because operating alone, it is difficult to maintain long-term performance.
According to Mr. Dao Van Thuan, in addition to investing in scale and modern technology infrastructure, the synchronization of data within the logistics center ecosystem itself, along with the data synchronization between logistics centers, also needs to be paid more attention in the coming time. When we synchronize data, customers can use a complete service at one location, then the flow of goods will be shortened and the control of a logistics process will be synchronized.
Currently, the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) is finalizing the National Logistics Development Strategy until 2035, which prioritizes the construction of multifunctional centers, integrating digital technology, automatic cold storage and low-emission transportation. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is advising the Ministry of Industry and Trade to propose a separate legal corridor to attract private investment in goods storage and transportation infrastructure.
