Developing culture, sports and tourism commensurate with potential and advantages

(VLO) On the afternoon of December 25, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to summarize 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025.

In 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has done a good job of managing and organizing activities in the fields of culture, sports and tourism, focusing on implementing propaganda and visual promotion of entertainment, cultural, artistic, sports activities, etc. to effectively serve the cultural and spiritual life of the people.

In particular, as the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee for major holidays, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has advised on the organization of typical political events of the province, notably the 1st Red Brick and Ceramic Festival - Green Economy of Vinh Long province in 2024.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh gave a speech at the conference.

Besides, tourism activities gradually recovered when welcoming about 1.9 million visitors during the year (up 25% over the same period) with estimated revenue reaching more than 991 billion VND (reaching 189% of the yearly plan).

The mass sports movement has been maintained, developed and strongly responded to by all classes of people. High-performance sports continue to affirm its position in regional, national and world tournaments with 368 medals of all kinds (107 gold medals; 130 silver medals; 131 bronze medals), including 12 international medals (3 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 5 bronze medals).

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh praised the efforts and positive contributions of the Department of Culture - Sports - Tourism to the socio-economic development of the province.

At the same time, it is recommended that units in 2025 be determined to well implement the targets set out by the Provincial Party Committee's resolution; research and develop plans to implement the national target program on cultural development for the period 2025-2035, the strategy for physical training and sports development until 2030 with a vision to 2045, re-plan the tourism system, the network of cultural and sports facilities for the period 2025-2030 with a vision to 2045; need to create changes, develop culture-sports-tourism commensurate with the potential and advantages of the province; pay attention to developing human resources in the cultural field from the province to the grassroots; research and improve the management and advisory capacity of the industry in the direction of applying information technology and digitalization. In addition, focus on arranging and streamlining the apparatus, coordinating well with departments and branches to successfully complete tasks in 2025.
