10 helicopters from the special training formation participated in the training, coming from 3 main units of the Vietnam People's Air Force: Regiment 916 (Division 371), Regiment 917 (Division 370) and Regiment 930 (Division 372).
Before the flight crews enter the training session, ground technicians check all machinery and equipment systems of each helicopter.
From the engine, electrical system, fuel to the transmission and flight control system, all are carefully reviewed according to strict procedures.
All technical parameters must meet absolute safety standards before allowing the aircraft to take off, to ensure not only the effectiveness of the training session but also maximum safety for the flight crews in the key demonstration formation.
The Mi-171 with registration number SAR 04 was also mobilized to perform meteorological reconnaissance missions before training, playing an important role in assessing safe flight conditions for the entire formation.
The formation was tightly organized in a 1-3-3-3 pattern, with one helicopter in the lead, followed by three groups of three helicopters each.
Flight crews are required to maintain a regular spacing of 100 metres, a stable distance of 50-50 and maintain an altitude of 150 metres or more when flying over the main grandstand area.
Precision is required not only in flight path, but also in uniform speed and altitude, in order to create a powerful and beautiful visual effect in the upcoming performance.
According to plan, in the solemn parade taking place on National Day September 2, a formation of 10 Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters will perform a special welcome flight in the sky of the capital, opening the large-scale air show.
In addition to the helicopter formation flying the Party and national flags, the Vietnam People's Air Force also mobilized many other modern fighter aircraft in service such as Su-30MK2, Yak-130, L-39NG and Casa.
The 80th anniversary celebration of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2) took place at 6:30 a.m. on September 2 at Ba Dinh Square and several central streets in Hanoi , with about 30,000 people attending (not including the parade and marching forces).
The program includes traditional ceremonies, speeches by Party and State leaders, military parades, and marches from 7:45 a.m. and ends with an art performance at 10 a.m. The preliminary rehearsal will be held on the evening of August 27, and the final rehearsal will take place on the morning of August 30.
