Auction of Love

In the last days of November, when Nong Son commune had just experienced many consecutive deep floods, from a place that had been struggling in the rain and floods, a humane activity was initiated by teachers and students: the recycled fashion auction "Regenerating style - Regenerating hope", towards the people of Dak Lak after the flood.

The starting point of the event came from the lesson " Fashion design" from used clothes in the Fine Arts program 9. In many lessons, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Minh, Fine Arts teacher of Phan Chau Trinh Secondary School (Nong Son commune) guided students to observe materials, analyze designs, and create new models from old clothes; from the steps of building ideas, choosing materials, creating forms to decorating products.

“When grading the papers, I was really surprised. The students not only did the work correctly but were also very creative, turning old shirts into handbags, wallets or accessories with high aesthetic value. From the quality of the products, I thought I could do more: connect lessons with life, spread the spirit of sharing. That's how the idea of organizing an auction was born,” Mr. Minh shared.

During product preparation days, the art room is always lit up. Some groups are busy removing old seams, others are meticulously re-cutting the bag shape, and others are choosing wooden beads and ribbons for decoration.

Dinh Gia Han, a student of class 9/1, cherishes the recycled bag that the group just completed from a dynamic, unique and durable jean bag. “By making this bag, I hope the auctioneer will feel the heart that we send to the people of Dak Lak ,” Han confided.

Another member, Nguyen Nam Phuong, excitedly showed off a bag made from an old uniform with a bow as the highlight. Phuong said: “This is the first time I have designed a product myself. When I heard that Mr. Minh would auction it to help people in flood-hit areas, I tried to make it even more beautiful.”

The completed products were auctioned on the Facebook page “Afterschool Activities” and attracted the attention of many parents, former students and local people.

Teacher Ho Van Nhan, Principal of Phan Chau Trinh Secondary School, was moved when looking at the exquisite products made by the students. Teacher Nhan shared: "The auction is not only an art lesson, but also a lesson in humanity and community responsibility, which the school always wants to nurture."

At exactly 7am on November 26, on Mr. Minh's personal Facebook page, the auction officially opened.

Each time slot has a product, each product has its own story: a bag made from an old uniform with a bow as an accent; a tote bag crafted from a shirt body with meticulously edited student seams; a recycled jean bag that is both durable and youthful...

Under each post, dozens of shares and comments, the auction numbers continuously increased. Many parents, former students and people participated in the spirit of "buying products - sending love".

Teacher Nguyen Chi Trung, Vice Principal, who supports the connection work, shared: “Seeing students create real value from things that were thought to be discarded, and then use those products to help others, I believe this is an experience that will stay with them for life.”

The auction ends at 12 noon on November 27. For teachers and students of Phan Chau Trinh Secondary School, its meaning will go far beyond the numbers.

When the money from the auction is sent to students in the flood-affected areas of Dak Lak, it will not only be material support but also a spiritual gift from the children in the low-lying areas of Nong Son, students who have experienced floods many times.

And above all, the activity has become a profound communication lesson: instilling in students the sense of sharing, community responsibility, knowing how to live humanely and protecting the environment right from when they are still in school. It is these simple yet meaningful experiences that will contribute to forming a young generation full of compassion, knowing how to appreciate the value of recycling, and the beauty that comes from kindness.
