On the afternoon of January 25, Ms. Ly Thi Hong Loan - Deputy Chief Inspector of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City responded to the press about the reflection of Tran Thanh's Tet movie advertising billboards pasted on cars, violating Article 32 of the Advertising Law.
Specifically, on January 24, a 47-seat passenger car with license plate 51B – 296-56 traveling on National Highway 13, Thu Duc City was decorated with stickers all over the body, both the front and back of the body with the content "Mai - a film by artist Tran Thanh. The most touching family love film on Tet 2024".
This advertisement seriously violated the current Advertising Law, specifically violating the prohibited acts in advertising activities according to Clause 11, Article 8 when using the word "first" without legal documents to prove it according to the regulations of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Tran Thanh's illegal image of advertising a Tet movie on a car has been criticized by public opinion.
Responding to this issue, the Deputy Chief Inspector of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City said that Article 32 of the Advertising Law stipulates that advertising on means of transport must comply with the provisions of this law and traffic laws. At the same time, advertising products must not be displayed on the front, back and roof of the means of transport.
Advertising products must not exceed 50% of the advertising area of each side of the vehicle. The display of symbols, logos, and emblems of the vehicle owner or the vehicle company on the vehicle must comply with the provisions of traffic laws.

According to Ms. Loan, organizations and individuals providing advertising services that violate the above regulations will be administratively fined from 2-5 million VND for the following acts: Advertising on the front, back and roof of a vehicle; Advertising exceeding the permitted advertising area of each side of a vehicle according to regulations.
However, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism affirmed that the unit does not have the authority to stop vehicles on the road if they violate the law and this is under the authority of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Police to review, inspect and manage.
