Vietnamese film wins two major awards at Venice Film Festival.

The film "Rain on Butterflies" won two awards at the International Critics' Week during the 81st Venice Film Festival, including "Best Film".

The movie Rain on the Butterfly's Wings ( English title: Don't cry, butterfly Director Duong Dieu Linh's film has just won two awards at International Critics' Week (Settimana Internazionale della Critica) within the framework of the 81st Venice Film Festival.

The first award the film received was "Most Innovative Film," judged by a panel of international film critics under 35 years old.

Actress Tú Oanh plays the lead role in the film.

Sharing her thoughts upon receiving the award, director Duong Dieu Linh stated: “Just a few days before the global premiere at the Venice Film Festival, the actor asked me, ‘How do you feel about finally living your cinematic dream after all that hard work?’ I told him that I had been living my dream for the past five years, working with such an amazing team.”

Shortly afterward, the film was named the winner of the prestigious "Best Film" award at the event. International Critics' Week (Settimana Internazionale della Critica). This award is presented by the International Film Critics Council and comes with a prize of 10,000 euros (over 270 million VND).

The jury praised the film's uniqueness and creativity, noting that it "combines humor, social tragedy, and fantasy elements, while also portraying the complexities of the mother-daughter relationship."

On her second attempt to receive the award, director Duong Dieu Linh was moved to tears. She invited producer Tan Si En and actress Tu Oanh and her son Bui Thac Phong to accept the award with her.

Actress Tú Oanh shared: “I couldn’t believe that the final name announced for the most important award at this year’s Settimana Internazionale della Critica in Venice was ‘Rain on a Butterfly’. I went up to receive the award with everyone, and I was overwhelmed with emotion. Early tomorrow morning, I will call my children’s paternal and maternal grandmothers, and then send the photo to our small family group of five.”

It is known that, Rain on the butterfly's wings It is one of seven films selected from 700 entries worldwide for the debut feature film category. Rain on the butterfly's wings This is a co-production film between Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The film tells the story of Tâm (played by Tú Oanh) and her daughter Hà (played by Nam Linh) who ride a motorbike to confront their husband and father after discovering his infidelity on television during a football match.

Tam finds an online sorcerer hoping to make her cheating husband change his mind, but inadvertently awakens a mysterious supernatural force within her own home.

The film will be released in Vietnam in the near future.
