Nam Quang commune was established on the basis of merging 02 communes: Nam Cao and Nam Quang (old). In the 2020 - 2025 term, the Party Committee of the commune focused on leading and directing the successful implementation of the targets and tasks set out in the Resolution of the Congress. The work of building the Party and the political system was focused on; 120 new party members were admitted. Agricultural and forestry production and new rural construction achieved many positive results; forestry, forest management, protection and development were strengthened, with the forest coverage rate reaching over 51%. Many models of growing medicinal plants were deployed, opening up new directions in forest economic development. Cultural, information and sports activities were carried out synchronously, creating a healthy cultural environment and improving the spiritual life of the people; every year, 85.9% of households achieved the title of cultural family, 81% of hamlets achieved the title of cultural village.

In the 2025 - 2030 term, the Commune Party Committee focuses on doing well the work of building a clean and strong Party and political system; developing the socio-economy ; consolidating national defense and security. The Commune has proposed 02 key programs: Developing the forest economy, associated with medicinal plants; Promoting administrative reform associated with digital transformation, improving the implementation capacity of cadres and civil servants and breakthrough content on developing transport infrastructure.
