Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung attended and spoke at the ceremony.

"Traffic is the blood vessels..."
Reviewing the glorious development journey of the Transport sector, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh said that right after the successful August Revolution, on August 28, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh officially signed the decision to establish the Ministry of Transport and Public Works under the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
In 1946, in the new government's directive "Urgent work now", President Ho emphasized the need for transportation: "Transportation is the lifeblood of the organization. Good transportation makes everything easy. Bad transportation makes everything stagnant."
During the years when the country entered two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism and two border wars to protect national sovereignty , the Transport sector undertook a sacred mission: Opening the road, keeping the road, carrying the whole Fatherland on its shoulders. Tens of thousands of cadres, engineers, and workers of the Transport sector became soldiers, contributing to the victory by creating roads through mountains, crossing rivers, holding out amidst rains of bombs and bullets. Many cadres and workers of the Transport sector fell during the war to maintain the lifeline of transporting weapons and military provisions throughout the length of the resistance war.
After the country's reunification, the infrastructure was severely damaged, vehicles were rudimentary, and human resources were scarce. However, with the spirit of "cutting mountains to build bridges", the entire industry has worked hard to restore tens of thousands of kilometers of roads, railways, ports, and airports.

From a heavy dependence on foreign units, through a process of continuous learning, with aspiration, will and determination, now, Vietnamese engineers and consultants have mastered technology from design to construction, creating many large-scale projects. With the leading role of state-owned enterprises, large corporations are ready to stand up to do key projects.
“In each field, we have the right to be proud, history has recorded. The achievements of the Transport industry always go hand in hand with the history and development journey of the country. Regardless of the circumstances, the mission of “Going first to pave the way” of the Transport industry remains intact, continuing to be built in the new era, the era of national growth” - Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh said emotionally.
Continue to shoulder the pioneering mission
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that at every important turning point of the country, there is the mark of those working in transport.

The country is transforming strongly to enter a new era, meeting the goal of rapid and sustainable development, meeting double-digit growth, aiming for Vietnam to become a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030, and a developed country with high income by 2045. In that context, the Transport sector (now the Construction sector) still has to shoulder the mission on its shoulders, pioneering like the engineers who went before to pave the way.
The challenges are still huge but they are also opportunities. The industry must determine its responsibilities and missions, and make worthy contributions to the country's innovation and development through research and investment in larger, more modern projects with newer thinking, longer-term vision, and clearer effectiveness.
“In particular, the railway sector, high-speed railway on the North-South axis, national railway projects, urban railways require huge resources, hundreds of billions of USD, which are also bringing great development opportunities to the railway industry. What the industry will do to seize this opportunity is also an issue that needs to be raised. The work of reviewing planning, ensuring the connection of new development spaces, developing new human resources, developing science and technology, and strengthening international cooperation are also issues that need attention,” Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized.
In recognition of the great achievements and contributions of the Transport sector, on this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung presented the Construction sector and transport workers with 14 words: Solidarity - Pioneer - Intelligence - Creativity - Courage - Imprint - Pride.
