The Vietnam U17 women's team excellently defeated the Hong Kong U17 women's team (China) with a score of 1-0, thereby officially winning the top spot in Group D and a ticket to the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Finals.

Right after the opening whistle, coach Okiyama Masahiko's players quickly took control of the game. The Vietnamese U17 women's team launched a series of attacks, especially from the flanks, forcing the Hong Kong U17 women's defense to constantly defend. The aerial battles between Linh Chi and Phuong Nghi in the 10th and 20th minutes made the opponent's goal wobble, but goalkeeper Yau Hazel still made excellent saves.

In the second half, the dominating game continued. After many missed opportunities, in the 66th minute, the home team's relentless efforts were rewarded. Ngo Hai Yen showed her mettle with a decisive move in the penalty area before firing a cross-angle shot past Yau Hazel, opening the score 1-0 for the Vietnam U17 women's team.

In the remaining minutes, the girls in red continued to maintain pressure and did not give their opponents a chance to equalize. In the 79th minute, the match was interrupted when goalkeeper Yau Hazel was injured, but after being treated, she still tried her best to play until the end of the match.

The referee added 5 minutes of extra time, but the Vietnam U17 women's team still maintained their slight advantage. When the final whistle blew, joy burst on the faces of the players and coaching staff. The minimal but well-deserved victory helped the Vietnam U17 women's team finish the qualifying round with the top position in Group D, thereby earning the right to participate in the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Finals.

With this achievement, the Vietnam U17 women's team is the 5th Vietnamese football team to qualify for the continental finals so far this year, after the U20 women's team, the women's team, the futsal team and the national U23 team, thereby affirming the strong progress and synchronous development of the national youth teams. This is the result of the continuous efforts of coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team, and at the same time opens up hope for a generation of talented young players for Vietnamese women's football.
