At the meeting, the two Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly of the two countries informed each other about the socio-economic development situation and activities of the National Assembly of each country, including the work of building laws related to investment and economic development.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai expressed his joy at the important achievements that the Lao people have made in recent times; security and political stability have been maintained; the economy has shown a tendency to grow better. In particular, the Lao Government and National Assembly have approved and implemented many policies to realize the goals in the national agenda on solving economic and financial difficulties such as: solutions to control inflation, exchange rates, commodity prices and foreign debt...

The Vice President of the National Assembly shared the challenges that Laos is facing, especially economic and financial difficulties. He also expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the administration of the Government, the support and supervision of the National Assembly, and the efforts of the people and businesses, Laos will overcome difficulties to develop and build a peaceful, independent and self-reliant country.

Reviewing the outstanding cooperation in the fields of politics - economy - culture - education between the two countries in recent times, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai affirmed that the cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Lao National Assembly has been continuously expanded and put into practice. The two sides maintain and exchange high-level delegations, exchange work experience, and exchange at the Committee level, between groups of parliamentarians of the two countries.

In particular, the first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Summit held in Laos in December 2023 is an important step forward, raising cooperation between the three legislative bodies to the highest level, contributing to perfecting the cooperation mechanism at all levels of the three countries in the Party, Government and National Assembly channels.

In order for activities between the two National Assemblies to be more substantive and effective in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly proposed that the two sides should prioritize promoting a number of contents such as: Maintaining regular contacts and exchanges at high and all levels between leaders of the National Assemblies and between the Committees of the National Assemblies of the two countries.

Strengthen the exchange of experience in policy and law making in macro management and socio-economic recovery, creating a favorable legal corridor for the two governments to effectively implement cooperation agreements. Strengthen supervision activities, organize joint supervision to promote the implementation of key projects between the two countries. Continue to closely coordinate, consult and support each other at multilateral forums. Strengthen propaganda and education of all classes of people, especially the young generation of the two countries, about the tradition of special relations between Vietnam and Laos.

Lao National Assembly Vice President Sommad Pholsena said that this visit is an activity to implement the cooperation agreement between the two National Assemblies; sharing the delegation's wish to exchange experiences in the fields of finance, economics and auditing.

These are areas that the Lao National Assembly is paying great attention to in order to improve the legal system and enhance the role of the National Assembly in formulating and approving policies to promote the socio-economic development of Laos. In particular, the workshop “The role of the National Assembly in formulating and implementing socio-economic development policies” held tomorrow, September 5, will be an opportunity for both sides to learn and exchange experiences in the fields of finance, economics and auditing, which are areas that the Lao National Assembly is very interested in.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai emphasized that the talks had a very frank and effective exchange on major orientations for cooperation between the two countries and the two National Assemblies. At the same time, he expressed his belief that the efforts and close cooperation between the two National Assemblies will contribute to consolidating and enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and Peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

+ Earlier, in the afternoon of the same day, the delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Lao National Assembly visited the Lower Laos Resistance Relic Site (Phu Ninh District, Quang Nam Province), offered incense at the Monument of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and the Martyrs' Cemetery of Quang Nam Province.
