VFP was established in 1985, is an international non-governmental organization that supports war victims and veterans; operates in many different countries and contributes to the anti-war movement, bringing peace to countries and peoples. In Vietnam, VFP is currently operating in the fields of overcoming the consequences of war, clearing bombs and mines as well as supporting the poor and victims of Agent Orange to develop the economy .
At the meeting, Mr. Chuck Searcy thanked the leaders of Quang Tri province for supporting VFP in the past time to fulfill its purposes and tasks. Thereby, reducing the number of accidents and deaths caused by mines and bombs; contributing to promoting the local socio-economic development. Mr. Chuck Searcy pledged to continue implementing the programs being implemented in Quang Tri with the aim of further strengthening the friendship between the two sides and contributing to the overall development of Quang Tri province in the coming time.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam acknowledged and evaluated the activities of VFP in Quang Tri in recent times, especially the efforts to overcome the consequences of war, support families of bomb and mine victims and Agent Orange to improve their livelihoods, integrate into the community, contribute to socio-economic development; the contributions of veterans for peace in promoting reconciliation and normalization of relations between the two sides through specific activities that have brought about practical results.

Regarding the success of the 2024 Peace Festival, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that the event aims to honor the value of peace, convey the message of peace of the Quang Tri people in the flow of aspirations of the Vietnamese people and peace-loving peoples around the world. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that VFP and US veterans will continue to convey the message of the strong vitality of the peace-loving Vietnamese people, Vietnam's desire to contribute to creating and maintaining peace, joining hands with international friends to build a world of peace, solidarity and prosperity.
2025 will be the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam hopes that in the development process of the two countries, veterans of Vietnam and the United States will continue to clearly demonstrate their pioneering role, promoting the sustainable cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the United States, looking towards the future with practical and meaningful activities.
