Two weeks before Christmas, Hanoi 's Cathedral, Old Quarter, and many shops and restaurants are filled with color and light, blending into the festive atmosphere of the year-end holiday season.
After Halloween (October 31st), Hang Ma Street switches to selling Christmas decorations and becomes bustling from the beginning of December.
According to Western tradition, families often hang wreaths on their front doors four weeks before Christmas. Besides signaling the arrival of the holiday season, wreaths also symbolize a welcoming gesture and wishes for well-being. In Vietnam, many families and businesses now include this item in their Christmas decorations.
Tang Van Ninh, 26, said he started selling Christmas decorations at the end of October. "The number of customers during Christmas is still the highest of the year, with many people going out to visit and sightsee," Ninh said.
According to staff, the hotel decorates for Christmas with a different theme each year, starting from the end of October until Christmas. This year, the hotel plans to keep these themes until close to the Lunar New Year.
