Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long meets with President of the Japanese House of Councillors

(laichau.gov.vn) During his visit to Japan and to attend the Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, on September 11, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long met with President of the Japanese House of Councillors Sekiguchi Masakazu. Vice President of the Japanese House of Councillors Fukuyama Tetsuro also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister conveyed the regards of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Senate Chairman Sekiguchi, and congratulated Japan on successfully hosting and organizing EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

Sharing Vietnam's efforts in the revolution of streamlining the apparatus and perfecting the legal system to serve development goals, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked Japan for its support to Vietnam over the past 30 years in the judicial field; hoped that the Japanese House of Councillors would support the Japanese Government in continuing to support Vietnam in perfecting the legal system, enhancing cooperation and sharing legislative experience between the two countries as well as between judicial agencies.

Agreeing with the Senate Chairman's assessment that the Vietnam-Japan relationship is in a period of brilliant development, the Deputy Prime Minister also affirmed that parliamentary cooperation is an important channel, contributing to strengthening political trust, promoting people-to-people exchange, and expanding cooperation between the two countries in many fields.

The Deputy Prime Minister proposed that Japan closely coordinate to create a favorable environment to promote economic cooperation and people-to-people exchange between the two countries, including simplifying visa procedures for Vietnamese citizens and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work in Japan.

Affirming that Vietnam is Japan's leading important partner in implementing the Free and Open Indo-Pacific Vision (FOIP), Senate President Sekiguchi expressed his delight at the development of Vietnam-Japan relations in fields such as economics, politics, culture, education, tourism, people-to-people exchange, etc.; and suggested that the two sides continue to coordinate closely to effectively implement the Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Japanese Senate signed in December 2024.

The Senate President highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts in streamlining the apparatus and in innovating the law-making and enforcement work; and affirmed his support for the Japanese Government in strengthening cooperation and support for Vietnam in the new era.

The Senate President shared that the Vietnam Exhibition House at Expo 2025 is very popular with many art performances, including traditional Vietnamese puppetry; he hoped that through Expo 2025 activities, cooperation and people-to-people exchange between Vietnam and Japan will be strongly promoted.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long conveyed to Senate President Sekiguchi the invitation to visit Vietnam from National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man. The Senate President happily accepted the invitation and said he would arrange to visit Vietnam at a suitable time./.
