The weather favors people

After seeing her children off at Nguyen Truong To Secondary School, Ms. Hoai Du, a resident of Dong Da District, Hanoi , found a sidewalk cafe to stay for a while.

Ordering a glass of iced lemon tea, Ms. Du breathed a sigh of relief when the journey to the exam site went smoothly and she saw her child enter the exam room in a relaxed mood.

"Yesterday, when I saw the forecast and learned that it might rain today, I was very worried. Many children, after completing exam procedures, also caught a cold due to the erratic weather. However, today, fortunately, the sky was very clear and the weather was also favorable. Thanks to that, the children's journey to the exam site became smoother," said Ms. Hoai Du.

This year, Ms. Hoai Du has twin daughters taking the High School Graduation Exam, so her anxiety seems to have increased. Both of them have an advantage in natural sciences rather than social sciences. Therefore, in addition to Math and English, they have thoroughly reviewed Literature according to the current GeneralEducation Program.

"I think anyone whose child is taking an exam cannot avoid feeling anxious and worried. But parents cannot do it for their children, everything depends on their own efforts. I don't put pressure on my child, I just hope that he can do the exam to the best of his ability," Ms. Du told reporters.

To ensure the health of the students during the exam season, her family has prepared a nutritious diet for her two children and advised them to sleep and rest scientifically. At the same time, they absolutely do not put pressure on their children.

It is known that Ms. Hoai Du's two daughters registered to take the A01 exam (Math, Physics, English) and D01 block (Math, Literature, English). Both of them respectively set their wishes to enter the Foreign Trade University and the National Economics University.

"You advised me to be calm and confident"

Entering one of the most important exams in a student's life, many candidates still maintain a calm, confident mindset, ready to accept the changes in the exam questions.

Now, not only parents cheer for candidates, but also candidates encourage their parents to believe in their choices.

Having a child who just finished grade 12 at Kim Lien High School, Ms. Nguyen Tam, residing in Dinh Cong ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi, shared: "Early this morning, my child woke up before me, fully prepared for the first day of the exam. Seeing that I was a bit worried, my child advised me to stay calm, be confident and put all my trust in him."

Ms. Tam's son wishes to study at the School of Information Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The results from the High School Graduation Exam are one of the options this candidate chooses to consider his application.

"Before that, my child had participated in the Thinking Assessment (TSA) and achieved a pretty good score. Therefore, he entered the High School Graduation Exam with a confident mindset as he had many choices of admission options," said Ms. Nguyen Tam.

According to Ms. Huong Lien, a parent whose child is in the same class 12A5 (Kim Lien High School) as Ms. Nguyen Tam's son, participating in the High School Graduation Exam is very important because this is a sufficient condition for children to graduate from high school.

"However, candidates participating in many admission options also helps increase the chance of being admitted to the universities they want," Ms. Huong Lien added.

According to information, candidates taking the current General Education Program will only take 3 sessions with 4 subjects, including: Compulsory Mathematics, Literature and 2 elective subjects (including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology - Industrial Orientation and Technology - Agricultural Orientation). The group of candidates will complete the exam on the morning of June 27.

Meanwhile, candidates taking the 2006 General Education Program will have to take 4 sessions with 6 subjects including: Math, Literature, Foreign Language, Natural Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Social Science (History, Geography, Civic Education). The group of candidates will complete the exam on the afternoon of June 27.
