According to Master's degree holder Le Minh Hien, Head of the Social Work Department at Cho Ray Hospital, at around 9:30 AM on November 18th, a parent from Go Vap rushed to the Emergency Department in a panic, looking for their child.

The parent broke down in tears upon hearing the news that her child had been in an accident and rushed to Cho Ray Hospital. The person on the other end of the line said the child needed emergency surgery. The parent immediately rushed from Go Vap to the hospital. However, at the hospital, the doctor said there was no patient that was her child. The parent called the teacher and was confirmed that the child was still attending school as usual.

Another parent said the caller, who spoke with a Northern accent and knew their child's details, said the child had fallen down the stairs while playing at school that morning and was being rushed to Cho Ray Hospital. The parent assumed the caller was from the school and didn't suspect anything. However, when the parent said they would be going to the hospital, the caller immediately hung up.

While at home, a parent receives a phone call informing them that their child, while playing at school with friends, fell and suffered a soft tissue injury and had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

This person demanded that the parents transfer 30-40 million VND for urgent surgery. The parents were both suspicious and worried, so they went to the hospital to look for their child, only to be informed by the doctor that no one with the child's name had come to the emergency room.

The phone numbers used by the scammers are 0932.470.093 and 0909.880.914.

Mr. Hien stated that in emergency situations requiring urgent intervention, hospitals always prioritize saving lives, with procedures completed later. Therefore, people should be extremely vigilant against scams claiming their children are in the hospital in critical condition and demanding urgent money transfers.

When faced with similar situations, Mr. Hien advises people to remain calm and verify the information by calling the school or contacting Cho Ray Hospital for accurate details, to avoid being exploited by malicious individuals.
