At over 3 a.m., Ms. Tran Thi Sen, Head of the Women's Association of Khue Trung 20A, woke up and rode her motorbike to the slaughterhouse to get fresh pork. Afterward, the women in the association gathered to prepare the ingredients before transporting them to the charity kitchen of the Oncology Hospital to cook 700 servings of soup to donate to patients. By 11 a.m., the steaming, fragrant soups were ready to be handed out to patients and their families.
Receiving a delicious bowl of soup, Mrs. Le Thi Thu (65 years old, Thu Bon commune), who is being treated at the Oncology Hospital, was moved and said: “I have been hospitalized for almost a month now, and it has cost me a lot. These free meals not only help me reduce some of the expenses but also bring me a warm feeling, full of love from the people around me.”
Ms. Tran Thi Sen stated that the "Compassionate Kitchen" model was launched by the Khue Trung 20A Women's Association in 2017. From the beginning of 2025 until now, the association has organized three cooking and donating events, providing nearly 1,400 meals to support patients at hospitals in the city.
“The funding to maintain the model comes from contributions from philanthropists and female officials and members at the branch. In addition, the branch implements a model of collecting and sorting recyclable waste to raise funds for social welfare, aiming to share difficulties and spread love to those less fortunate in the community,” Ms. Sen shared.

Similarly, the "Kitchen of Love" at the Khue Trung 24 Women's Association is also regularly bustling with activity. Most recently, the association organized the cooking and donation of 270 portions of nutritious soup to child patients being treated at the Da Nang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital. They also mobilized benefactors to donate 30 gift packages to children with serious illnesses and difficult circumstances who are receiving treatment there.
According to Ms. Le Thi Thuy Tien, Vice President of the Women's Union of Cam Le Ward, there are currently dozens of "Zero-Cost Kitchens" operating in the women's union branches in residential areas of Cam Le Ward, with 15 locations regularly providing free meals. Each month, these kitchens distribute thousands of free meals to support poor laborers, hospital patients, and vulnerable people, bringing them joy and encouragement to overcome difficulties.
Besides maintaining "Kitchens of Love," women's associations also regularly contribute and raise funds, distributing hundreds of charitable gifts to those in need. Since the beginning of the year, the Hoa Tho Dong 10 Women's Association has allocated funds from its social welfare budget to distribute dozens of gifts to orphans, disabled women members, and low-income workers in the area.
Ms. Le Thi Sinh, Head of the Women's Association of Hoa Tho Dong 10, shared: "Although the gifts are not of great value, they are a testament to the spirit of mutual support and sharing, helping those in difficult circumstances to alleviate their burdens and gain more strength to rise up in life."
