In the vibrant atmosphere of nationwide emulation towards the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026), the Women's Union of Dong Da Ward organized the "Dong Da Women Telling Stories about Uncle Ho" competition, celebrating the successful conclusion of the National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other political and social organizations for the 2026-2031 term.
The final round of the competition brought together 8 outstanding teams selected from the preliminary rounds. Each team participated in two parts: a knowledge test about President Ho Chi Minh and a storytelling section, with diverse formats ranging from expressive storytelling, illustrated with images and videos , to theatrical performances combining singing and dancing.

The first prize went to the storytelling performance "Uncle Ho Grading a Teacher's Paper," narrated with heartfelt emotion by teacher Pham Anh Thu, representing Thinh Hao Primary School. The story vividly recreated the image of Uncle Ho attentively and meticulously correcting even the smallest errors in the grading of young teacher Le Thi Mai.
Sharing her thoughts after the victory, teacher Pham Anh Thu expressed: “Every time I read and recount this story, I feel even more deeply the boundless love that Uncle Ho had for education . He not only cared about the great affairs of the country, but also paid attention to the specific actions of a young teacher. Through this, I understand even more that a teacher, in addition to imparting knowledge, also needs to be careful, responsible, and constantly learning.”
In today's era, when education is constantly evolving, Uncle Ho's teachings remain invaluable. Deeply moved by this spirit, the young female teacher vowed to always strive to improve her professional skills, listen more to her students, and teach with the heart of a silent "ferryman."

Speaking at the competition, Pham Thi Tam, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee and Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Dong Da Ward, said that President Ho Chi Minh, the national liberation hero and world cultural figure, is a shining example of revolutionary ethics, patriotism, compassion, and a simple lifestyle.
Stories about Uncle Ho, though simple and everyday, always contain profound lessons about responsibility, love for humanity, and dedication to the people. During his lifetime, he affirmed: "The beautiful land of Vietnam is made even more beautiful and radiant by the efforts of our women, young and old, who weave and embroider it." Bearing this teaching in mind, the Women's Associations at all levels in Dong Da ward continuously strive to care for the material and spiritual lives of their members, especially those in difficult circumstances...
Learn from Uncle Ho by doing the smallest things every day.

Women's Association Branch 26 has been very effective in its movement to collect scrap materials to raise "collective plastic pigs." Photo: PV
The story of Women's Association Branch 26 is a vivid example. Branch leader Nguyen Thi Anh Dao said: “Learning the spirit of ‘diligence, thrift, integrity, and righteousness’ from Uncle Ho, the branch launched a movement to collect scrap materials to raise money in a ‘collective piggy bank,’ helping disadvantaged families and disabled children in the locality. The branch also established a charity group to cook free porridge at hospitals and donate clothes to people in remote areas. The branch's main goal this year is to encourage 100% of people to bring reusable shopping baskets when going to the market and say no to plastic bags.”
The practice of using baskets to go to the market has become a daily routine in residential cluster 26. It's simple, but it shows that learning from Uncle Ho sometimes doesn't mean doing something grand, but rather demonstrating dedication and sincerity starting from the smallest things in daily life.
