Women in mountainous areas support each other in economic development.

In recent years, in the northern mountainous communes of Thai Nguyen province, the role of women in family economic development has become increasingly evident. Besides caring for their families, many women members have proactively reformed their production mindset, collaborated to support each other in economic development, and gradually risen out of poverty to build stable lives.

In the fields of Thien Diem hamlet, Phuc Loc commune, the atmosphere of labor in the Bo Chinh ginseng growing area is always bustling. From low-yield rice paddies, thousands of square meters of land have been converted to growing medicinal plants. Despite their different ages, the women all share a common determination to unite and cooperate to develop the economy.

Ms. Dang Thi Mui shared: "Previously, the lives of women in the village mainly depended on farming and small-scale livestock raising, resulting in unstable income. Thanks to the encouragement and support from the government and the Women's Union, the women have boldly changed their way of thinking and doing things, working together to build economic models to escape poverty sustainably."

Through savings groups and production cooperatives, women in mountainous areas gain access to capital and have the opportunity to learn from each other's experiences, support each other with techniques, plant and animal breeds, and labor. This solidarity has created collective strength, helping many production models to thrive.

In Thuong Minh commune, women-led cooperatives and associations are increasingly asserting their role in economic development. Characteristic products such as glutinous rice, fragrant green pumpkins, and ginger are produced through collaborative efforts, improving quality and value. Members regularly exchange experiences, support product sales, and create stable outlets for their products.

Women in Ban Tru village (Thuong Minh commune) have formed a cooperative to cultivate medicinal plants on hillside garden land, creating a stable market through a business that guarantees product purchase.

Ms. Ma Thi Ninh, Director of Yen Duong Cooperative, said: Currently, the cooperative has nearly 500 members, mainly women. Thanks to the support of all levels and sectors, many women have boldly started businesses right in their hometowns. Many households that were once struggling now have a decent income, have learned to apply science and technology to production, and are gradually rising to become legitimately wealthy.

The women's movement for mutual economic development is also linked to building cultural life in residential areas. As incomes increase, families have the means to care for their children's education, improve their housing, invest in clean water, and maintain environmental hygiene. Therefore, the role and status of women are increasingly affirmed in the family and society.

In addition, many members actively participate in community activities such as environmental protection, maintaining security and order, and contributing to the xây dựng nông thôn mới (new rural development) program. Through these simple yet practical actions, women in the highlands have become a core force in socio-economic development at the grassroots level.

Ms. Nong Thi Uyen, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Minh commune, assessed: The women's movement to help each other develop the economy in the area has yielded positive results. However, the development process still faces many difficulties. In the coming time, the locality will continue to focus on allocating resources, supporting vocational training, transferring science and technology, and strengthening connections for product consumption so that women's economic models can develop more sustainably.
