Phu Quoc: Ensuring completion of economic development goals and plans

(CPV) - According to Mr. Tran Minh Khoa, Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee, with the determination and efforts of the entire Party Committee, government, and people, Phu Quoc City People's Committee ( Kien Giang ) has focused on leading and directing the implementation of many measures to restore production and business activities, ensuring the completion of the socio-economic development goals in 2024.

Phu Quoc is implementing a series of solutions to turn the pearl island into a resort paradise.

Regarding urban planning, the city has reviewed and adjusted the master plan to ensure sustainable development and avoid spontaneous development. Areas with potential for tourism development have been clearly identified, helping to attract investment and develop infrastructure.

Regarding site clearance, the city has urgently carried out site clearance for key projects, thereby helping to speed up the progress of infrastructure construction. City leaders regularly inspect and direct departments and offices in handling problems related to land and resettlement.

Results of implementing assigned targets in 2024, 20/23 targets reached and exceeded the set plan; total budget revenue in the area reached over 8,000 billion VND, exceeding the plan; tourists exceeded the set plan targets, especially foreign visitors achieved quite well, international flights were reopened by airlines to Phu Quoc. Focusing on handling and enforcing many violations in the fields of land, construction, security and order, contributing to stabilizing the situation in the area...

Many unique cultural activities are organized to attract domestic and foreign tourists to Phu Quoc.

Specifically, the value of agricultural - forestry - fishery production is estimated at 4,509.49 billion VND, exceeding the plan by 2.49%. The value of industrial production is estimated at 5,214.61 billion VND, exceeding the plan by 12.38%; Construction is estimated at 16,650 billion VND, exceeding the plan by 1.13%...

Total retail sales of goods and service revenue is estimated at VND46,338.95 billion, exceeding the plan by 9.38%. State budget revenue is estimated at over VND8,932 billion, reaching 100.36% of the estimate.

In addition, the total number of tourists is estimated at 5.969 million, exceeding the plan by 70.56%; of which international visitors are estimated at 962,450, exceeding the plan by 92.49%. In 2024, Phu Quoc also welcomed 03 international cruise ships with 3,299 passengers.

To attract tourists, the city has organized many attractive cultural events and festivals, contributing to promoting the image of Phu Quoc closer to domestic and foreign tourists.

Mr. Tran Minh Khoa, Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee, said: The city pays special attention to the lives and social security of the people. Support programs for the poor and those in difficult circumstances have been implemented promptly. Local authorities have organized free medical examinations and treatment sessions for people, and launched donation movements to support families in difficult circumstances.

The city has invested in upgrading school facilities and improving the qualityof education . The health system has also received attention, with the construction and renovation of new hospitals and medical stations to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment services.

The leaders of Phu Quoc City People's Committee always pay attention to inspection and supervision work to ensure that development targets are implemented on schedule. Regular meetings are held to assess the progress of plans and projects. The city leaders have requested units to report specifically on the implementation of tasks, thereby making timely adjustments. The work of receiving and handling complaints and denunciations from people is carried out seriously. The city has established working groups to quickly resolve arising issues, contributing to creating trust in the community.

Thanks to the management and direction of the Phu Quoc City People's Committee, positive marks have been made in the local socio-economic development. With the determination and consensus of all cadres and civil servants, Phu Quoc is gradually affirming its position as an attractive destination and one of the fastest growing localities in the country. Mr. Tran Minh Khoa, Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee shared that recently, Phu Quoc has taken drastic measures to clean and beautify the city.

The “rolling” principle was put forward, in which there will be specific plans for each street and the responsibility assigned to the ward and commune for management. The plan to improve waste treatment, wastewater treatment system and clean water supply project has also been focused on to preserve the beautiful image of Phu Quoc.

The Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee emphasized the importance of health care and education, considering these two top priorities to attract tourists and residents. "The city is renovating An Thoi red soil field into a public beach and sea square. This project will create better entertainment space for residents and tourists," Mr. Khoa shared.

In addition, in the coming time, Phu Quoc will implement a series of solutions to turn the pearl island into a resort paradise, a livable place for all citizens. Specifically, it will accelerate the construction of synchronous strategic infrastructure, especially key and important traffic infrastructure projects and urban infrastructure. Continue to comprehensively and synchronously develop cultural fields, ensuring a harmonious connection between economic development and socio-culture; improve people's lives, and ensure social security.
