Phu Tho captured and destroyed 14 tons of pigs infected with African swine fever on the way to Hanoi.

On July 11, in Ky Son ward, Phu Tho province, Phu Tho provincial police patrolled, controlled, discovered and recorded a car with license plate 37H-014.36 transporting 190 pigs, estimated at 14 tons, without quarantine papers as prescribed, and without origin.

Authorities destroyed 190 pigs infected with African swine fever overnight.

According to the vehicle owner's declaration, the pigs were transported from Son La to Hanoi for consumption. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinated to take samples for testing and the results were: 4/5 samples were positive for African swine fever, and the authorities proceeded to destroy them on the night of July 11.
