Phu Tho is known as the homeland of the nation - a place that preserves many cultural heritage values ​​and abundant natural tourism resources. In 2024, as the leader of the cooperation group of 8 expanded Northwestern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Tho has synchronously deployed solutions, invested in tourism infrastructure, built, upgraded and renewed tourism products to develop sustainable tourism. There are 4 points recognized as provincial-level tourist destinations including: Au Co Temple Cultural Tourism Site and 3 tourist destinations in Xuan Son Commune, Tan Son District including: Du Village Community Tourism Site, Coi Village Community Ecotourism Site and Ngoc Waterfall Ecotourism Site, creating more highlights in the tourist journey to the Ancestral Land. Along with that, the province continues to focus on investing in upgrading and renewing tourism products at tourist areas and destinations (Hung Temple National Tourism Area, Thanh Thuy Hot Mineral Water Tourism Area, Ancient Village Xoan Singing, Xuan Son Discovery, Long Coc Tea Hill); Building new products of spiritual cultural tourism models associated with experiences such as: Water procession ceremony at Bach Hac intersection, Outing trip experience activity App "Searching for antiques" at Hung Vuong Museum, school tourism associated with Xoan singing at Lai Len Temple and experience of enjoying tea of ​​the Ancestral Land at Long Coc...

In the program "Colors of Tourism of the Ancestral Land" and Launching the response to the 2025 tourism stimulus program with the theme "Phu Tho - go to love", Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Dac Thuy said: This is an event to introduce and promote tourism images, tourism products and services, tours, tourism stimulus programs, OCOP products, specialties of the Ancestral Land and localities linking to develop tourism with Phu Tho province. Based on the potential and strengths of tourism development in localities, the Cooperation Group has clearly identified typical tourism products of localities in the region to proactively focus investment resources, improve quality, develop typical and strong tourism products, strengthen promotion and advertising, and connect with travel businesses to attract tourists to experience tourism. The association helps to expand space, promote the strengths of localities, form diverse and attractive tourism products, and enhance competitive advantages.

Phu Tho joins the tourism development cooperation group of 8 extended Northwestern provinces (Phu Tho, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Son La, Yen Bai) and Ho Chi Minh City to jointly exploit competitive advantages, diversify unique and special tourism products to attract attention and meet the diverse needs of domestic and foreign tourists.

In 2024, the total number of visitors to the 8 provinces of the Northwest and Ho Chi Minh City will reach nearly 76.5 million, an increase of 15.5% compared to 2023 (of which, the number of tourists to the 8 expanded provinces of the Northwest will be more than 32 million). Total tourism revenue in 2024 is estimated at VND 45,661 billion, an increase of 19.5% compared to the previous year.

To exploit the local tourism potential, Chairman of Phu Tho Tourism Association Tran Thanh Son shared: Travel agencies in the province focus on building new tour programs, exploiting new tourism products such as Xuan Son, Long Coc, Thanh Thuy community eco-tourism, school tourism connecting historical and cultural tourist attractions (Hung Temple, Hung Lo Communal House, Lai Len Temple...) to increase the attractiveness of Phu Tho tourism to tourists. At the same time, strengthen cooperation with localities with strengths in tourism development, actively participate in tourism development cooperation activities of 8 TBMR provinces to improve the efficiency and position of Phu Tho tourism.

By investing in and upgrading specific tourism products and continuing to develop new tourism products based on strengths, differences, and competitiveness in the market. Up to now, the provinces and cities of the Cooperation Group have communicated, introduced, and promoted to tourists and travel businesses in the 3 regions of the North - Central - South and gradually put into effective exploitation the tour connecting the provinces of the Central Highlands and Ho Chi Minh City according to the general cooperation agreement: Returning to the Ancestral Land - National Origin, The Heroic Song of the Northwest, The Flavors of the Highlands with specific destinations: Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi - Phu Tho - Lai Chau - Sa Pa, Bao Yen (Lao Cai) - Quang Binh, Dong Van (Ha Giang); Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi - Hoa Binh - Son La - Dien Bien - Lai Chau - Sa Pa (Lao Cai) - Ha Giang; Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi - Bac Ha (Lao Cai) - Xin Man, Hoang Su Phi, Dong Van (Ha Giang).

In addition, the provinces are also proactive in linking and developing inter-provincial and inter-regional products not only for localities in the Cooperation Group such as: New tour Hanoi - Moc Chau - Hua Phan (Lao People's Democratic Republic); exploiting trekking and mountain climbing tourism products at Bach Moc Luong Tu peak (Ky Quan San) and Hoang Lien Son National Park; connecting tourist destinations on the "Northwest Arc" route (Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Son La and Dien Bien, Phu Tho); building inter-provincial tour products "One route, 5 destinations"; connecting heritage from Sin Suoi Ho (Lai Chau) via the ancient stone road Pavie - Bat Xat - Bac Ha (Lao Cai) - Xin Man (Ha Giang); Long Coc tea hill tour - Mu Cang Chai terraced fields.

Along with that, provinces and cities also strengthen promotion activities, advertise and expand the market through events, tourism festivals; VITM International Tourism Fair; Northwest Tourism Fair... contributing to promoting and bringing the image of local tourism to travel agencies, investors, domestic and international tourists; gradually affirming the prestige, image and brand of the Cooperative Group tourism on the Vietnam tourism map.
