For many years, the family of Mr. Pham Tien Thanh in Tan hamlet, Tinh Nhue commune, Thanh Son district has always been on the list of poor households. Mr. Thanh suffers from schizophrenia and has to take medication regularly, while his children are still young and of school age. Every rainy and stormy season, the whole family lives in fear in their severely dilapidated house, which could collapse at any time. He has always cherished the dream of a solid house, but with the current circumstances of the family, it is "powerless".
With the support of 60 million VND from the Temporary and Dilapidated House Elimination Program, and the help of his family, Mr. Thanh built a 3-room house with a closed upper and a solid lower compartment, with a total cost of 90 million VND.
Mr. Thanh excitedly shared: "I never dared to think that my whole family would live in a house like this. Thank you to the government, the Fatherland Front and the neighbors for caring for and helping my family!"
Over 80 years old, with blurred vision and slow legs, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoi in Phu Thinh area, Doan Hung town, recently suffered a stroke, and can only rely on her maternal nephew in her old age because her son passed away a long time ago. Living in a house built nearly 30 years ago that has deteriorated makes her anxious day and night. In early 2025, after the local government reviewed, it was found that the renovation and repair of Ms. Hoi's level 4 house was justified.
Therefore, last May, Ms. Hoi received 30 million VND from the State and an additional 5 million VND from the town government to upgrade and repair the roof, re-plaster the walls, pave the yard, and build a gate.
Mrs. Hoi excitedly said: "At my old age, I just hope to have a house that is secure above and durable below so that I can live in peace for the rest of my days and properly worship my husband and children."
The specific stories and the bright faces on the day of moving into their new homes are vivid evidence of the tireless efforts of the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and socio- political organizations in the area. The journey to eliminate temporary housing is not only a practical work to help people escape poverty sustainably, but also a vivid expression of the great national unity bloc, true to the spirit: "Leave no one behind".
The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in Phu Tho has become a bright spot in social security work. Under the strong direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and the close coordination of departments and branches, the program has been widely deployed, targeting the right subjects, promoting the spirit of great national unity.

Up to now, the whole Phu Tho province has built 2,365 houses, including completed houses and houses under construction. Of these, there are 657 houses for people with revolutionary contributions; 1,307 houses for poor households; 317 houses for near-poor households; 84 houses under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas.
However, during the implementation process, Phu Tho province encountered many difficulties, especially problems with land procedures. The Department of Agriculture and Environment, the program's host unit, proposed to step up guidance on changing land use purposes and granting land use right certificates to eligible households; at the same time, proposed that the People's Committees at district and commune levels step up propaganda and mobilize people to participate and proactively coordinate implementation. In addition, mobilizing more resources from businesses, socio-political organizations, the Phu Tho community living far from home and philanthropists is also an urgent requirement to ensure the program is completed on time.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Luong Ngoc Thach said: “The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is a key task for social security in 2025. The province is actively mobilizing all resources, from the state budget to the community's cooperation. At the same time, we will strengthen the direction of localities to speed up progress, flexibly mobilize resources and remove obstacles, to ensure that the program is completed on schedule, and no households have to live in temporary or dilapidated houses."
It can be said that the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Phu Tho is not only a socio-economic task, but also a testament to the profound humanitarian spirit, arousing and spreading the strength of great national unity. Each newly completed house is another hope that is lit, so that the poor people believe in a brighter tomorrow.
