On June 12, information from the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that the unit is developing a plan to restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty Throne, according to the conclusion of the Evaluation Council and proposed restoration plan. This plan will be reported to the City People's Committee before June 20 to report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The implementation will comply with the provisions of Circular 05/2025 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, effective from July 1. The Council also determined which parts are damaged and will be repaired, the restoration will be carried out using traditional techniques, and it is expected that skilled artisans and craftsmen will be invited to perform the work.

It is known that after the incident of the Nguyen Dynasty Throne being damaged in Thai Hoa Palace on May 24, the authorities seized 14 fragments that fell from the damaged armrest. After the treasure was transferred to the storage of the Royal Antiquities Museum, 3 more small fragments continued to fall off. According to experts of the Evaluation and Restoration Proposal Council, these fragments will be reused to restore the Nguyen Dynasty Throne using traditional techniques.

The Hue City People's Committee requested the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to urgently develop a plan to restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty Throne, according to the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage and the guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. During the implementation process, the Center is required to pay attention to applying modern science and technology to analyze and determine the authenticity of materials, repair time, and additional preservation over time. In particular, priority is given to using traditional technology and techniques based on closely following data, current status, and making the most of materials such as collected throne armrest pieces, ensuring scientific and sustainable nature. The Hue Monuments Conservation Center is requested to coordinate with the National Archives Center and organizations and individuals to research, supplement information, and digitize data on national treasures.

Notice for visitors not to touch artifacts in Thai Hoa Palace and not to take photos in the main area where the throne is located.

According to researcher Nguyen Xuan Hoa, former Director of the Department of Culture and Information of Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue city), the national treasure Nguyen Dynasty Throne is placed in a very special relic space, a place of great power, a "symbol" of a dynasty. The violation of the national treasure has caused great "symbolic" damage; it is not only immediate but also long-term, people will pass this incident down in history. "As for the specific damage to the physical aspect, in my opinion, it is not that big, because the broken pieces that fell off are part of the damage; this armrest was damaged and temporarily reassembled. The broken pieces were all confiscated and can be reassembled using traditional techniques," said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoa.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoa, for a long time, the Nguyen Dynasty throne has been placed in Thai Hoa Palace and protected in that area; but the incident of encroachment shows that the current protection method is no longer suitable for reality. After recognizing the national treasure, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism needs to issue detailed regulations on the protection and promotion of the treasure; with specific and detailed instructions. Because in addition to human impact, there are many potential risks affecting heritage and national treasures such as weather, climate, chemicals, light, storms, floods, fires, etc. According to the reporter of Van Hoa, in recent days, the Thai Hoa Palace area has been strengthened with security forces, 4 staff members are regularly present at this relic area to guide visitors when they enter. Right at the entrance, the staff also informed visitors that they are not allowed to take photos or record videos in the main room of the throne display area (restored version in 2023).

Mr. Tran Dinh Than, Head of the Protection Management Department (Hue Monuments Conservation Center) said: In the immediate future, we will arrange for additional shifts to temporarily increase the number of security guards in the Thai Hoa Palace area to 4 people (before the incident, there were 2 people - PV) to guide visitors and ensure the safety of the relics, artifacts and treasures. Along the wooden fence at the entrance, the relic unit also posted a notice not to take photos or touch the artifacts. Many visitors were guided and moved appropriately in the inner palace area, where the throne, the national treasure of the pair of dragons from the Thieu Tri period and many precious artifacts are displayed, to the West and East wings of the Thai Hoa Palace.
