Phuong Dung was a guest on the program "Spring Colors ," broadcast on THVL1. On stage, in addition to dedicating the song "New Year's Story" to the audience, the female artist also shared her feelings about celebrating Tet (Lunar New Year) abroad.
Phuong Dung still maintains traditional customs when celebrating Tet (Vietnamese New Year) in a foreign land.
"The White Swallow of Go Cong" confided that in recent years, she has been able to celebrate Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) in Vietnam. Every spring, the female artist dedicates time to return to her hometown and then performs for the people. "Before I returned to Vietnam, Tet was very sad. Because then I missed my hometown, my family, and didn't know when I would be able to return like in the old days," she shared.
Recalling her days living far from home, Phuong Dung said she always prepares everything to recreate the atmosphere of Tet (Vietnamese New Year) in her hometown. Every year, on New Year's Eve, all her children gather at the artist's house to celebrate the new year. At that time, the singer from Tien Giang province meticulously prepares a fruit platter, as well as green banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), red couplets, etc., to evoke the atmosphere of her hometown.
Phuong Dung recounted: “When I was little, I eagerly awaited Tet (Lunar New Year) so I could wear new clothes, but now we always have new clothes. However, my children always look forward to New Year's Eve to sit together. There are always bags of watermelon seeds in the house, and everyone cuts watermelons together, gives each other lucky money, and wishes each other a happy new year…”
Quynh Lan is happy to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) in her hometown.
Also in the program, Quynh Lan performed the song "Nang Co Con Xuan" (Is Spring Still Here?) as a gift to the audience. After many years away from her homeland, the female singer was delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate Tet (Vietnamese New Year) in Vietnam this year. This brought Quynh Lan many emotions.
The singer from the 70s generation shared that celebrating Tet (Vietnamese New Year) in Vietnam made her feel warm because she was surrounded by the love of her family and enjoyed traditional dishes. “My happiness is celebrating Tet with my family. Because no matter where I go or how long I'm away, my heart always belongs in Vietnam. This is where I always want to return to, to the embrace of my loved ones and to meet my friends,” said the singer of “Don’t Leave Me Tonight .”
