RT reported that speaking at a cabinet meeting with President Donald Trump on August 26, US Special Envoy Witkoff said he would attend meetings on Ukraine and other global conflicts throughout this week.
"We hope to resolve the conflicts before the end of this year," said Mr. Witkoff.

In a follow-up interview with Fox News, Special Envoy Witkoff said that while President Trump has expressed frustration with both Moscow and Kiev, at least the Russian side has “made a peace proposal.”
The US official acknowledged that territorial concessions may not be something the Ukrainians can accept, but stressed that the Trump administration has brought the sides closer to a deal than ever before.
"A peace proposal is being discussed. We are at a stage where we think the end is very near... Our team is working on that proposal and we hope that by the end of this year, and maybe a little bit earlier, we can actually reach that peace agreement," he said.
According to Mr. Witkoff, Russian President Putin expressed his desire to end the conflict and discussed deeply with President Trump about Moscow's position at the Alaska summit on August 15.
Although no details of any agreement have been made public, Moscow has long maintained that a lasting peace settlement can only be achieved if Kiev agrees never to join NATO; to demilitarize and de-fascize, and to acknowledge the territorial realities on the ground, including that Crimea, Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye have become part of Russia.
